New Tudor Submariner owner and questions.

Hello all,
I'm hoping I can easy my curiosity by getting some info from the community:

Ive bought a late 1990s (I think) Tudor Mid size (37mm) sub, 75190.

I seem to remember Tudors being competitively priced (compared to Rolex) when they were available for retail in the UK, but Ive found it hard to find out what this watch would have retailed for, and I am curious, does anyone know? I am looking for UK retail price.

Im also interested to know if it was substantially cheaper than the full sized Tudor sub from the same time - 40mm I think. I found that the full size was several hundred more expensive to buy on the second hand Market, probably its more collectible. (Again ideally UK Prices).

Many thanks in advance,
Mark

I really need the start of your Tudors serial number to narrow it down further mate?
Also....
Is your dial a 'Prince Oysterdate' or 'Prince Date' version.
Is it black or blue dial/bezel?
Jubilee or Oyster fliplock bracelet?

As an example a mid to late 90's 75190 with the 9315 band was £665.00 RRP and a 79190 with the 9315 was £705.00 RRP.

Best - Neil.

Oh! - Welcome :D

Hi there Neil, Jon,
the serial starts with "H156" and its a Prince Date/Jubilee braclet. Ill get some pics up once Ive figured out how to connect my phone to my partners PC, mine (with the right software) is being repaired at PCW.

I am surprised at how competitively priced the Tudor Sub was though! Wow, I really wish I had the urge to buy one back in 1996 when I bought the first of many many many faulty Seamasters (bond watch), which ultimately led to a replacement Speedmaster, which then fell apart and led me to abandon Omega and loose over a £1000 when I traded in for the Sub.

So pics to follow.

Jon, love your Cthulian avatar.

Thanks guys.

Hi Mark - yeah I'd put that at 1999/2000 era.
Nice watch and looking forward to the pics. :)

Tudors were competitively priced right up until the point they were removed from the UK market as there was no demand. Which says a few things. Anyway, in 2004 a Hydronaut (the successor to the Tudor Sub) was £950 on a bracelet, and a Prince chrono under £1,200. A regular Prince Date was under £800. Compare those prices to TAG, for example. (No point in comparing them to the prices of the equivalent Rolexes, of course.)
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Well, ive tried to post some pics, lets try again now I ahve some software with which can resize the images...IMG_0519 - Copy.jpg[/attachment:3o3fi0ht]IMG_0519 - Copy.jpg[/attachment:3o3fi0ht]

So, this is the 37mm - Im trying to find an oyster bracelet for it, not an orignal tudor, but an aftermarket one, I can only find 17mm and 19mm bracelets, but when I measure this, it seems to me to be 18mm. Am I loosing the ability to use a ruler? Or is it just that I am yet to find an 18mm bracelet?

Cheers

Cheers Daddel, actually a Mid sized, I think the size list is "Lady, Mini, Mid", and then the full size but I could be wrong.

All - Ive found a bracelet on thewatchprince.com.

Thanks
S

As far as I know it's the same size as a Date -Just.
Would a Rolex oyster not fit, or a look-a-like?
You should be able to get one on the bay I reckon.

Good luck,

Daddel.

blue tin roof had a pic of all of them in his hello post, use the search function to look at the different sizes, i had a 75090 last year and there is a sizable difference in the prices between that and the larger sub.

Re: New Tudor Submariner owner and questions.

I have the slightly older midsized sub, I love it to bits. When I was up at Watchworks in Bristol, Rocco had a load of different Tudor and Rolex subs, it looks far less chunky but in mm terms the differences are actually pretty small. The dial size is the same as on most divers style watches (same as a PRS-50 for example), the case shape is a touch different with slightly more pointy lugs as the bracelet is 18 mm, your measurement is correct. Rocco commented that the main difference is in the bezel, the full size sub basically adds a couple of mm extra chunkiness into the bezel and this is the most immediate thing you feel when seeing/handling them side by side. Then the next most obvious difference is the crown as the full size sub uses the much more chunky triplock crown. The smaller double seal one on mine looks and feels very much like that found on a Rolex GMT Master.
