Hi
Anyone know where I can get a Wii chipped or can buy a new one that is already chipped? Need somewhere reliable.
And is there anything to look out for, different options etc?
Cheers

Of course it's illegal, but almost every console ever known to man can be chipped or modded to make it play free games. The manufacturers don't like it but it also provides them with a lot of console sales!
But then it's the GAMES sales that make the money, chipping a console enables you to play copied games.
Then I suggest you edit your posts before Eddie hits you with his ban stick.Originally Posted by Nuphoria

Well it's not illegal here (Finland) to chip consoles and it's not even to illegal to copy a game off a friend.. so not sure how 'of course' it is.. ;)

I don't think it's illegal, but it does void the warranty.

Its as illegal as having a multi-region DVD player I think :)
Precisely, as in not at all.Originally Posted by jobseeker
Once they belong to you, you can mess about with them to your heart's content. All it does is void the warranty. Copying games and so forth is illegal, but that's a different question.

Yes, to clarify, I believe the illegal copying and distribution of games which is the issue - you can of course turn your wii in to a coffee machine for all Nintendo care. Copyright laws are long and tedious reading and it mostly comes down to, did you pay for a legal copy of the game/film/album etc you have?
You do however have the right to make a backup copy for your own use - not to distribute or sell etc, so it's a fine line. Downloading is where most of the copied stuff comes from and that's the bit that's very difficult to police.
