    a new Smiths Retro Diver

The most recent Time Factors email newsletter says a new Smiths Retro Diver is forthcoming in 2025. Are any other details available, like specs, renderings or photos? Apologies if I have missed any relevant posts.

Just checking again, has anyone has seen details about the new Smiths Retro Diver?

Here is a screenshot from the email newsletter:

    Thanks.

I haven't seen anything but I'd hoped this thread might have sparked some discussion or a teaser pic.

I don't know enough about the Smiths back catalogue (I assume that's where inspiration has come from) to speculate on a design.

It appeared in the Smiths catalogue for 1971 only.

Would it be "the boys" one... but bigger (hopefully)?

This pic should wet your appetite. I'd sure be interested in a faithful replica of this (including the patina), maybe powered by a Miyota...

Do you know what size that is?

    32mm

What do you think a good modern size should be?

Considering the wide bezel, I would like it at 38-39mm.

I think that would look great scaled up.

Like the hands set, the big feature, lots of room for a ton of lume.

I could be misremembering / totally wrong, I seem to think Eddie dismissed this one as not really worthy of a remake some time ago...Very intrigued now, my google Fu, admittedly very weak yellow belt at best, had also only turned up the big hands model, which HE has dismissed...???

    a new Smiths Retro Diver

Interesting how Smiths ran the gamut of driver hand widths. The Astral was not limited to 1971, was it? Can anyone find a link to the 1971 Smiths catalogue?

Image search for for smiths dive watch 1971 throws up the 2 images above and this one.

Apparently a Smiths vintage dive watch Cal. 552, 1960s but I'm thinking this could be the one?

That’s much better looking than the previous two shown above. I’d be really interested in a modern version of that.

Me too, love the orange seconds hand, pop of colour and the white/off white dial, that model really appeals... is it the ONE:)

Other thought, a Retro diver, on the smaller side under 40 mm, slimmer side around 11/12 mm, v. nice...is it???

    That looks very cool.

Fingers crossed a remake has the plain SMITHS logo.

I agree with you, the iconic block caps SMITHS is the best logo as well as being the most appropriate on an early 70s inspired model - though comments on various other threads suggest many prefer the fancy 'boobies' logo!

That's right - I suggested it as a watch that I'd like to see remade and Eddie replied that he had one of the originals and that it wasn't a very good watch.

I'm sure that it could be made into a good watch though :)
