Turn it up/down and see if it clicks ?
I've got a fridge freezer in the utility room, where the fridge element acts as an overflow - small under the counter fridge with daily essentials in the kitchen.
This week I went to get some veg out of the salad drawer and it had frozen ! The fridge is on its lowest setting and isn't running continuously so I'm presuming there's an issue with the thermostat? If so is there a simple test I can do to identify this before I splash the cash on a replacement.
TIA

When was the fridge freezer last defrosted? Might require defrosting and all ice removing?

Check the defrost drain in the fridge it is probably blocked. You can srynge in warm water to drive it. Also clean the evaporation coils at the back. They are the most obvious things to try.
As above.
Clear it out, defrost it, clear the drain (they get blocked with crud) and vac all of the cobwebs and dust off the back fins and try it again.
If it’s a”turney knob” thermostat, then 7 is the coldest, 1 is the warmest setting
You could measure the fridge temp - buy an inexpensive thermometer to take a real reading.

As an update I tried the syringe method recommended and confirmed that the overflow tube was clear. I also vacuumed all the dust and cobwebs from the back !
I think it may have worked... famous last words but after a day it doesn't feel as cold at the bottom
Thanks for the advice
