    CWC Quartz Chrono from 2005

It's not really a military watch but as it is a CWC I thought this was the best spot. CWC made a quartz chrono that is vaguely similar to one they supplied to the BAF but with a number of difference including dial layout, different movement and subdials. Has anyone owned one and if so what are they like in the met, so to speak. Below is a link to the original CWC listing.

    CWC Quartz Chrono from 2005

I purchased the latest iteration new from CWC about three weeks ago, if you are interested in hearing about that.

Someone else posted a good comparison of the older and newer models on Watchuseek at https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/n...ughts.5495110/

I didn't realise the Falcon was the updated version but now that I look the dial is the same. I'd be interested on hearing your thoughts.

I am enjoying the new version. For context, I currently have a RAF issued Pulsar Gen 2 quartz chrono, and recently sold a Newmark 6BB quartz re-edition with acrylic crystal from 2019. I am not particularly interested in mechanical or issued chronographs per se, so these types of quartz chronos in this price range are a good fit for my small collection on a limited budget.

The new Falcon seems slightly slimmer and lighter than the Pulsar or Newmark, and sleeker. The Falcon case is brushed, and the finishing seems good but not especially remarkable, but equivalent to the Pulsar and Newmark cases. The Falcon sapphire crystal compares favorably to the Newmark acrylic which I had really enjoyed. The Falcon hands are very slim, and I prefer the hands on the Newmark and Plusar, those have a more substantial and interesting design to me. The slim hands and case give the Falcon a very light feel, aesthetically. It feels more like an instrument than a tool watch, if that makes sense.

I prefer the Falcon movement with running seconds subdial to the Newmark 24-hour subdial. The main seconds hand appears to hit all of the markers. I do not mind the awkward date window on the Falcon. I appreciate both date and no-date dials, but the Pulsar date at 3 is a better placement. The subdials on the Falcon have a circular design or texture which set them apart from the smooth main dial, but this detail is not easily seen at a glance on the wrist.

I love the fixed lug bars on the Falcon and Pulsar, and have been wearing all three of these chronos on single-pass adjustable straps.

    The CWC Falcon:

Really helpful, thanks. I had a Newmark but the 24 hour subdial annoyed me. I also had a Seiko Gen 2 that I moved on. The Falcon looks great. The older version has the same dial layout and case but has an acrylic crystal.
