    GP Laureato or IWC Ingenieur

Loved my AP 15300 and should have kept .. we’ve all been there

Anyway really dont fancy and can’t justify the price of buying another so looking at other similar offerings

Was almost there last week with new IWC Ingenieur nice looking watch circa 9k used but no display caseback due to antimagnetic cover and i like a nice movement window.

So started looking at the GP Laureato and seems pretty good value at 1-2k less

Looks are i know subjective and personal to each of us but.

Which one would you choose ?
Anyone had any 1st hand experience?

I like both those watches, but have owned neither. My main issue would be the lack of microadjustment in the bracelet-it is a bugbear of mine in a watch costing many thousands. I loved my Bvlgari Octo Finissimo but eventually let it go for this reason.
That aside-I prefer the IWC, but probably not at retail!
    Good luck.

Out of my price point to buy. But would be the GP all day long. One of my favourites and often think would I buy one if I had the money - rather than one of the big 3. Saying that the Alpine Eagle is a good shout.

Thanks for the feedback guys much appreicated I'm feeling the GP more

hopefully even without micro adjustment I will find a good fit.

not a massive fan of the Chopard dial but clearly a great watch

IWC is a lovely watch but at 9k ++ I think the GP is better value if they were same £££'s It would be a harder decision.

My preference would be to pick up the IWC on the grey market at discount.

I was in a similar position over the last couple of weeks, spent hours seeing the reviews on YT and reading all about the various options.

I have always liked IWCs, had 3 of them up until yesterday when the 4th arrived, a new Portugieser.

I couldn't decide amongst the others, the Titanium Ingenieur looked very nice, but expensive and Boutique only.

Also my Pilot Mark XX and Zenith El Primero on Hirsch blue rubber seem to cover off the Ingenieur. Albeit I might buy another Aquatimer 2000 as I miss the one I sold to Paul, Cat7 a few years ago.

Was very tempted by this one

Enjoy whatever you end up with.

I always think there is not enough subs 40mm versions of the integrated bracelet watches.

I do like the GP, but am I right in thinking it’s a 42mm case size?

My choice would be the new blue dial IWC. It is over-priced for what it is, but putting aside that factual observation, I can’t stop looking at it!

If only Eddie had pushed through with the Artificer… it’s a shame there was insufficient interest.

There’s a 38mm option too. I’m going through the same consideration at the moment and the Alpine Eagle is probably my favourite of the three, although thinking of something completely different now!

Laureato for me - I love the brushing and how it contrasts with the mirror-polished parts, the octagonal bezel and the colour and texture of the dial. Available in 38 and 42mm versions too, if that's a consideration.

Mine is the 42 - IMO it wears smaller than the measurement would suggest.

Why am I only seeing this now? I really like that.

I don’t like the crownguards on the new Ingenieur. And that price…

    Much prefer the old 3227.

The new Ing wears very small (which means less of the beautiful dial), and that's on my 6.75" wrist. So, def try before you buy.

The new Ingy titanium is a beautiful watch and so light. Pricey though

The correct answer is the Laureato.

I really like the look of the new Ingenieur and would love to see one close up but as has been mentioned, being 40mm would it make the dial look small with that chunky bezel

Laureato for me as well. I’ve tried on both the SS & Ti versions of the new Ingy, which while both fantastic are not on the same level as the GP in terms of fit and finishing IMO.
I’ve always felt that it wears quite large for its 42mm. This is offset though by the thinness of the case. At times I’ve thought about trading it in for something else, but each time find that there’s nothing that i could buy for the same price that would compare.

The pricing on the new IWC Ingy is just wrong. How they see it as double the price of the pilot xx is madness!

Same movement!!! I agree pricing is silly, should be a £7k watch.

Another vote for the Chopard here. Compared mine to the new IWC and no doubt about which i'd buy. I also think the bezel/case shapes of the GP is odd, which is rich coming from an Alpine Eagle owner, but there you go. The dial on the Chopard is just perfect in the sunlight.
