Recently I’ve been looking into this,now it’s not a secret and I’m sure a lot of people will know about this,so they can probably add to the thread,but hopefully this is news to some.
The Pam 195 was introduced in the early 2000s as a paneristi edition,you were able to have your name engraved on the back.
You will see in the top picture the arrows pointing up and down are a different length to the standard logo below.
Once this run of 195s were done there was estimated 100 dials left,which were used for the G series Pam 05.
According to some information I’ve read some of the owners of these had the cases pvd coated so they were like a 195,now leaving even less 05s.
These 05 long arrows now command a premium,were are not talking Rolex type premium,but if you do have an 05 it may be worth checking,or if you are in the market you may drop lucky.

That last thing the WIS world needs is another brand where mid run component changes carry a premium.
I think people try too hard to make their lovely and desirable, but otherwise unremarkable watches somehow magically remarkable.

I'm always 1/0 on the lookout for a long arrow 005. There are also some with a number 3 with a longer top cross piece from memory too. The long arrow logo visually looks miles better too.
can't argue with that logic....but then when did logic come in to this hobby? These were my two, i did perhaps like the long arrow a little more, but only because I knew. In reality i could barely tell.

I have a ‘long arrow’ 005 which is 0043/1000. ‘Back in the day’ I was a total nerd about these things and I seem to remember that the highest confirmed number of the edition, with this dial, was 0085 or 0086. It seemed that anything after than was the newer logo. I suppose the real attraction was/is that this long arrow logo is the same as the early ‘90s pre-Vendome 5218/201A and yes, while the difference is subtle, it is more aesthetically pleasing.
At that time I also had a PAM 0027, power reserve, and a PAM 0029 GMT with a tuxedo dial. Both those are gone and just the ‘long arrow’ and a preA 1. Since then I’ve lost interest in the recent Panerai models but intend to hang onto the two I have.
