Nothing new, Ferrari are exactly the same - you're not going to get the latest hypercar as a new customer.

This has been going on for a good while now. However the tide has started to change, lets see that its like in 12 months. However i would never have the need for a GT3 RS and neither would 99.9% on the planet so i can not say i feel hard done by. I also can not say i sympathise with the guy, in 12 months that will get flipped.
Having been "in the trade " for some decades, I have , for some time been of the opinion that the limited editions or models of limited production, of Porsche particularly, were offered to longstanding customers, on the , tacit, understanding that they would keep the thing for a decent period before offering them for sale, at whatever the market would bear, ( often at a nice little premium on MRP ) as a "thankyou " for continued and longstanding support . We certainly had one or two through our hands which seemed to bear out this suggestion.

Definitely going to change as it has already has the signs of a change, just check out what is available on Porsche Website new and used on high end 911,
I am not in the market as these things are way above my reach, prefer classic. But was shooting some high end Porsche’s recently and had a listen to the chaps on wear the market is and is potentially heading.
And, TBH, you need to be of above-average ability to appreciate the RS fully, and really not on the road, it's a track weapon (but what a weapon!)
I drive 911's regularly, amongst many other makes, and IMHO, the lower-powered, less focussed models are way more fun as an everyday proposition.
This man seemed to be enjoying his, however...
