    A DIY Homage

Have you ever bought a watch as a sort of DIY homage, to scratch an old itch?

Back in 1984 I lusted after one of these:

.. but I bought a Rotary instead, because I saw one with 50% off.

I've often thought about it since though, and when I saw this for sale at Argos for about £11 (if I remember correctly), I decided I'd have one. Clearly it doesn't closely resemble the old Seiko model. But it does resemble it a bit, with the squarish face and chamfered corners, and the lightly domed crystal.

The bracelet is a lot different, and the Casio has more information on the dial. Still - works for me.

It's neat how you were able to scratch that old itch with a similar style. Sometimes it's the little resemblances that make a watch special to us.

Nice to hear the rationale behind it.

I like that Seiko and Casio. It’s a shame you don’t see many/any Seiko digitals now.

Someone's reviwed this particular Casio model, published 10 hours ago.
