Thread: Will we see another PRS-10?

    Will we see another PRS-10?

I’d certainly be interested in either a plexi or sapphire crystal PRS-10 (the improved G10).

Does anyone know if this is planned/would anyone else want one?

In August last year I emailed EP, asking "have you any plans for another run of your more recent, upgraded PRS-10?" As I wanted one and the WTB here hadn't got me anywhere.

His reply was "I haven’t yet decided whether to make it again, it wasn’t a top seller."

I bought a Certina DS-4 in a clearance sale instead, and have been happy with it, its specs are similar, but would much rather have had the PRS-10

If it does return, it will be as an automatic as the Ronda 715Li has been discontinued.

Pity it won’t return with the quartz movement I’d love another one. :(

I wanted one as well. I remember seeing it on the website and always thought I will buy that in the future. Then one day I was ready to buy and it was sold out!

I then purchased a CWC Fatboy but really liked the PRS-10 for the screw down crown and sapphire glass and the 20mm lugs.

An automatic would be ok but a grab and go quartz would have been really good.

I had a PRS-10 which I really liked. I thought it represented excellent value and is a good watch but after a while I realised that was less keen on the date window or the number '4'.

I sold it and purchased a CWC G10 Sapphire to scratch that itch. As you probably know, the 'standard' CWC G10 has only has a 5 ATM WR which, on a 'field watch' is not great for me whereas the Sapphire model has a 20 ATM WR.

I think that a PRS 10, no date automatic would work well and, knowing Eddies watches, would come with a decent spec and at least 100 ATM WR.

I see CWC do a G10 auto (G22) but again comes with a low WR rating so, not for me.

Just bought one for my sister's 40th birthday. She prefers cool stuff over feminine stuff. She isn't even into watches but I kept note over the years how she responded to my watches then hit her with the GS Sapphire PVD no date and she is very keen. Such a cool watch.

Disagree with the WR concerns, unless you go deep sea diving you do not need anything more than 100 metres, 30 metres should be enough. Extra depth rating is all related to case distortion, a 30 metre rated watch will not distort in a 2 metre swimming pool!

I restored and sold a few old CWC G10 s a while back, biggest problem I found was leakage down the pendant tube where it made a poor metal to metal seal, possibly due to the tegimented finish. Refitting the pendant tube with loctite fixed this, I tested them to 6 bar and they were fine with new seals fitted. Only reason I didn' t keep one is the fixed spring bars, I dislike NATO straps and thats all that fitted.

If the PRS 10 is relaunched I think it should have a quartz movement, the 715 Li is discontinued but the standard 715 will fit. If ETA movements were easier to source the 955. 412 as fitted to the older CWC would be ideal.

A classic design, water resistance to 100 m is, adequate and achievable.......removable spring bars are a must!

When I was a kid, my 50m WR Casio could not take a dip in a swimming pool, I remember feeling scandalised and gutted jn equal measure.

When I had an issued G10 with fixed lugs, I fitted a removable eBay leather strap to it that was so old fashioned I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been NOS from the 50s.

Would be interested in a quartz version. No interest in an automatic version ...

Would love to get another PRS-10. I think a polar white dial with a red seconds hand would be nice too. Auto or quartz would be fine with me.

You have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and make a better G22 than CWC for a lower price.

What if you´re jumping from a cliff height say 3 or 5 m´s into the sea...would 30 m´s be enough? And if it´s not you´ve buggered your watch...btw I use a venerable Vostok for such activities, tough as and cheap enough to chance it. (Possibly one you modded for me mate, v. much appreciated:)

Like the polar white dial, red sec hand suggestion.

I've just got hold of another 300 of the 715Li but I don't yet have a delivery date.

Any chance of brushed rather than bead blasted.

Ah just my luck. I purchased a CWC GS. I don’t need another quartz but will end up buying it.
