    Sheffield watch

    Hi all,

    I have an old Sheffield diver that is of no financial worth but some sentimental value.

    The quartz movement (M2188) has died and I would like to get the watch running again. Searching online, the M2188 movements that come up are larger ones for clocks, which is a little confusing.

    My questions for anyone who can help are as follows;

    Is there a suitable replacement movement that is the same size as the original M2188, or are they still available from somewhere?

    Secondly, how on earth do I release the stem and crown from one of these cheap movements? It appears to be a sealed plastic unit, with two visible screws. Removing the screws doesn't release the plastic rear, and without access, I can't see how to release the stem. I'm baffled! I'm aware that this is a lot of fuss for a knackered old cheap quartz watch but I'm sure you know how it is when there's a connection to one.

    Many thanks in advance for any help offered,

    Leon
