    monster gen 1

Recently bought a black monster,gen1. All was well until last week when it stopped working most of the time. Occasionally it would start and run for perhaps an hour or two and then nothing. Any help would be great.

Gen 1 will be a 7s26 movement so no hand winding. Those movements are getting on a little now and are probably prime for a service. Alternatively an upgrade to an NH36 would be another good option.

Rock the watch back and forth for around 20 mins to get it into a decent state of wind, it should then run for a few hours. Lack of hand-winding is a drawback with these. Movements can be serviced or swapped for an NH36, there will obviously be a cost involved but buying an ageing watch in the hope that it'll run well is a tad optimistic to say the least, always budget for the cost of getting a watch serviced when buying.
