    Soundbar

I'm in the market for a soundbar. Any buying advice or features that are a must have?

    Thanks

How much do you want to spend?

Not sure really, probably an entry level level one, 100-200. Anything would be a massive upgrade from the TV speakers. If I have to spend more for a particular feature then I'm happy to do so.

I used to have an entry-level soundbar which was considered decent at the time, https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/yamaha-yas-101. Switched to powered speakers and the sound is way better, https://www.amazon.com.au/Edifier-R1.../dp/B073W1R4XQ. Speakers don't look as nice but for better sound go speakers. Either way, audio will be better than TV speakers. Allow for cost of stands; I have https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174802475498.

Second hand sound bars can be real bargains. I did a little research and picked up a decent Sony with separate sub woofer for under £100.

What TV are you pairing it with? Worth checking out soundbars from the same manufacturer for ease of use/remotes etc.

If you have something to sit it on look at soundbases as well - better than a sound bar, but not quite as good as separate speakers.

Sky Soundboxes (by Devialet) are now at bargain prices on eBay (around £50 I think). You don’t have to have a Sky TV box / subscription to use one, although you get some extra features if you do.

They're a very nice upgrade from TV sound with 9 woofers I think. You can't add a Sub though.

They work well if your TV is on the wall and you have a cabinet below it to place the Soundbox on.

Thanks, space being a factor, and a wife, it's gotta be a discreet soundbar

Well they seem just the ticket. I'm custom building a cabinet with a slot for the soundbar so will have to room for a the depth. Thanks for the suggestion
