Bolt it to the inside of an exterior wall?
I've acquired a fair bit of bullion and want to get a home safe. However owners in the development aren't allowed to drill into the floors so I was wondering how to secure a safe without this. Some other residents are bolting the safe onto heavy steel plates making them extremely heavy to remove, another chap is putting heavy lead in his to weigh it down.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Bolt it to the inside of an exterior wall?
Buy more gold! It’s (slightly) heavier than lead.

Buy a very heavy safe
Melt the bullion down, have it fashioned into a safe, paint it black and leave it empty and unlocked. :)

Could you not just get a safe deposit box? Not sure it’s a great idea to keep that kind of money at home
Thanks for the suggestions. Re safety deposit box, Is and Cs state no money can be stored in them. I'll look at getting the heaviest safe I can - I don't have contents insurance here either as it's v expensive so it is a bit of a risk currently.
I wouldn't class gold as money, not that the safe deposit box provider would have any idea what you're keeping in there.
And ask yourself why contents insurance is particularly expensive in your building...
Buy a big ole safe.
Which unless you live on the ground floor you’ll never get to your flat.

Or move to a safer area.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Screw it to the ceiling.

I still think safe deposit box is your best option and agree with previous comment on not sharing it on the internet especially on a forum where some people might have you address if you’re ever purchased a watch from here
Have they explained while floor drilling, especially on the ground floor, is a bad thing?
Could you not buy some sort of gold bond instead?
There's probably enough clues in your posting history to lead a wrong'un to your front door. Maybe store it at a relative's who can safely secrete it away.
Bury it in a field far away from prying eyes? Just make a point of noting the coordinates.
Thanks all. I'll probably just sell a bunch of it on a private group and have a modest amount to keep. It's not like I had tons of it, but I'd started buying some and planned to continue doing so but it seems like it's a bit too much hassle.
I liked the idea of having 'off grid' assets but I guess there's always crypto for that
No insurance because the people who make a living from assessing risk correctly - think it is very risky?
Then announce to all on an internet forum that you intend storing all of it in a safe in the property………….
Take your time settling on a solution.
There's a ton of Hongkongers moved into the development and without going into more details than I should, basically nobody in their right mind would risk a robbery here as a result. Like I said, there was an inside job from builders once but the repercussions the culprits received were horrific and too graphic to share here.
That being said you never know so I'll figure something out to avoid temptation and all that.
Man with stash of gold bullion complains insurance is too expensive. Good luck.
First world problems here......(rolls eyes) and them pesky little Triads...
Honestly I have no idea why you’d share stuff like this on a forum??
It must be so easy for the criminal fraternity nowadays, like taking candy from a baby. The equivalent of an elderly lady in the 1970’s placing an advert in the local paper announcing she’s putting her life savings under the mattress?!
But at least the thread got him the attention he craves. As did the MGM one. Well played, mate.
Bury it at the bottom of a large pot plant / shove it up a wooden duck door-stop / buy a fish tank and disguise it as a pirate ship.. Must be plenty of ways to hide it in plain site.
I have a small slit cut in the internal wall of my wardrobe, near the ceiling. I just slide my bullion in there, store it in the wall. When I need it back, I just pull off a section of skirting board and get what I need. Easy.
How would anyone know if you bolted it to the floor? Just put everything back as it was before you move out. If it's that important to have it in the house then surely making good a few holes in the concrete and putting flooring over it isn't too much hassle. You aren't renting so I assume you don't get somebody coming round checking you're abiding by the rules?
Exchange the bullion, and really how much can he have, a few or several ounces perhaps, exchange it for gemstones...have a small slit cut somewhere unobtrusive, fleshy on his body, insert gems, seal with super glue, job done. Safe and portable.
Or pay the Triads to sort his wife.
The safe fitters we used said if they couldn't drill the floor they would just chemically bond it to the floor although drilling was preferable.
Sell the bullion and buy a PM watch, white gold or platinum - stealth wealth. Tell the misses it’s a £300 bog standard watch.
Might not be feasible if you have an exceptionally minimalist house, but mine is randomly located out of sight inside an everyday item. Any would-be thief would have to be exceptionally lucky to find it or have far more time available to search than would be likely with a Police-connected alarm running. Coins are ideal for this type of concealment - you can tape them flat or into small packages easily.
Not mine, but this is kind of the idea

What about the mobile phone/prison method? Just carry it around with you at all times.
