My home town Chesterfield off to a flying start against Swindon on their return to the EFL😊😊
For all things championship.
I think it's going to be tight this year .
With two off the relegated teams going back up last season you've got to favour Burnley and Sheffield United for autos with Luton strong contenders for the playoffs.

Being a Luton fan I would like to say surely we stand above Sheffield but the championship in my opinion is the most exciting league with tight margin for errors, as three wins or losses can move you from bottom end to top end and vise versa , we have everything to prove this year as no one expected little old Luton to put up a fight
I didn’t see the first half but am watching the second of the Blackburn v Derby game. Derby have been dominant since half time and that’s a fabulous header to equalise.
EDIT - what a goal Blackburn!!
Off to Hull today...come on you Reds!

Are all efl teams having 20 games shown on sky this season ?
An interesting game at Elland Road today.
Go behind to a 90+2 min penalty and almost win it.
Rooney off to a flyer.
I can't for the life of me see why Plymouth recruited Rooney as manager.
Sheff weds could surprise a few people this season as they have recruited a lot of players.
Danny Rohl looks to be a decent manager but Plymouth are going to be in a lot of trouble and soon.
Birmingham found that out when they bought him in for John Eustace.
Burnley have been very impressive first half.
This is quite the statement of intent from Burnley. Very impressive.
very annoying; if only for the fact that Scott Parker has a level of smugness that can be seen from space. Other than that not bothered about the club, but he did enough at Fulham and Bournemouth to irritate me at the very mention of his name.
bitterness aside......
WBA gave my lot(QPR) a spanking on Saturday. We weren't at the races and they are a really well drilled team who repeatedly beat the press. Appalling defending and finishing from us (including a comical airkick from 4 yards) made their job easier, but top 6 material for me and a top class manager.
Also rate the Sheff Weds manager after his efforts last season; if he carries on some higher placed clubs might be sniffing around.
usual 1st round of cup exit for us tonight, it's what we do
Decent performance against Oxford, should have been out of sight rather than relying on a last minute winner. Big step up from that abject first half performance against Stoke, still feeling positive about finishing in Top 6 but just 44 games to go
we host the renamed west country club tomorrow; WRPAFC.
be interesting to see how he has them set up as he appeared to go for a rigid 442 but doesn't really have the strength in midfield to do that at this level. QPR have a few new signings that are hopefully a bit more settled after a few more days training, so we'll see how that goes.
Always begrudgingly enjoyed watching Rooney on the rare occasions he played at Loftus road; hopefully he messes up tomorrow.
ps. also sick of these 12.30pm games. our first home 3pm isn't until late October!
That was better, albeit against a poor Sheff Weds.
Lots of in and outs, new manager, new owner, really liking the new look.
Last weeks home game we looked different and good different in the second half.
Feeling good for this season, happy knocking on the door of the playoffs.
Pitch
Yes, I thought you were poor too.
I thought we played well against your early pressing and once we got hold of the game looked comfortable.
You have a few new players in so it could take a while to gel.
Having said that you beat Rooney's Plymouth first game so don't get too exited.
apparently you are sniffing around Illias Chair for the 3rd transfer window running. He's pretty much carried us for 2 seasons and is quality. Think he'd look better playing with better players and tends to try and do too much with us.
we should have beaten WRPAFC on Saturday. They were down to 10 men after 30 minutes, but having just equalized they simply parked the bus and did a great job of it too. Keeper kept them in it and we couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo either.
their number 10 Whittaker is a decent player and i'd be amazed if somebody didn't go in for him this week
Chair does look good and he should be providing more goals and assists.
Isn't there a court case pending with him?
I would've taken Whittaker last year as a replacement for Bamford.
The first sending off was quick. I'm surprised Forshaw is still playing as he had a lot of time out with hip trouble and it was touch and go that he would return.
court case was dealt with and its a load of community service. I think a lot of the problems for Chair on the pitch is that for the last 2 years he has pretty much been the only decent player, with utter shite strikers..... so teams just put 2 or 3 on him. lovely little player who I think would thrive in a better team as opposition couldn't just target him.
Leeds being linked with just about everyone this morning!!

marchingontogether!
RIP Sol Bamba.
Played for both Cardiff and Leeds.
Sunderland looked very good Saturday, very quick on the break, they have some good players. To be fair Pompey aren't up to speed yet, need to bed the new signings in and start to gel.
Steve
you need to see QPR equaliser vs Sheff Weds on Saturday..... goal of the season sorted in September
about 20 players having a bundle in the penalty, nay, 6 yard box for what seems like minutes, until it gets stabbed over the line.
comical playground level stuff that was truly wonderful. Oh yeah, in the 96th minute when Weds thought they had bagged a win scoring in the 93rd..... just to put the cherry on top!
is it quiet in here because Leeds haven't won the league yet? :)
A nice tribute to Sol Bamba yesterday from both sets of fans.
No idea which "version" of the sky blues is going to turn up from match to match. The one that deserved to beat Spurs in the Carabao or another abject display against Swansea. Still confident we can finish top six, the talent is there but the lack of consistency is worrying
I have not seen football as good as yesterday since pre-prem season.
City faithful are right behind the new manager and ‘hoff ball’. Quick and slick. This summed it up yesterday

I am confident we will be in the mix next April
Pitch
To put that goal into some perspective it was right at the end and we had already given up, not that we ever really started. I think anyone would have beaten us by at least that score yesterday. Norwich should be up there come the end of the season. Got to admire an ownership that keeps within its means but still manages to produce quality teams. Plenty of Norwich fans moan about lack of investment when you get promoted and come straight back down but the alternative for clubs our size is where we are now, and it’s not good.
Cheers fella, we had exactly the same last weekend, nothing came together anywhere on the pitch.
There is massive moaning about the investment in the club but the model did work for many seasons, we made yo yoing respectable and I loved it, wins at home every match and then the prem big boys. And then repeat.
Farke should not have been sacked, Smith was a joke and Wagner was out of his depth. JHT just feels right for us and the team is now full of youth which is his mantra.
Four of the starting lineup were 20 and under, four more 24. Three of yesterday’s subs on were 20 and under, two unused 17 and 18. That must be the youngest lineup in the Championship. But the biggy is they are all real talented players and are beginning to gel with Hoff Thorups guidance.
I truly think this together with the shift in ownership is the beginning of something big.
Pitch
had exactly that chat with a mate who has a season ticket.......
meanwhile QPR continue with an absurd record of both teams scoring in every game this season, Millwall could and should have beaten us. We are far too slow getting the ball forwards and proving that as in business 'turnover is for show, profit is for go' that possession stats are BS and it's goals that count.
From watching the highlights we could've had more goals.
I'm hoping in Ramazzani we have found another finisher to replace Jimmy. And while Joseph isn't weighing in with goals he has three assists and he's only going to get better.
It's a long season in the championship and I'm happy to take a strong finish rather than looking like we ran out of steam last season.
46 games and it truly is a marathon. the clubs with lots of squad/manager changes will take 10 games to settle in;
it's just nice that my very good pal that supports Leeds has lowered the volume of his chat the past couple of weeks........ but i'm sure it will work out as I don't think the division is as strong as last year.
It may not have the strength in depth but there’s still Burnley and Sheffield United from last seasons drop, West Brom seem to have started where they left off last season and Sunderland have started well but will probably (hopefully) drop off as tge season progresses.
It’s still going to fe tough to get an automatic promotion spot and everyone knows our record in the playoffs!
Can I come back in here?
Apparently only Man City and Arsenal exist in the premier league thread!
