    Kurono Tokyo 2024 Anniversary Reiwa

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a watch that I pre-ordered back in May, a Kurono Tokyo 2024 Anniversary Reiwa.

I'm a fan of Hajime Asaoka's art-deco designs and I've wanted to try a Reiwa for five years, so I couldn't resist when this one was announced:

This watch is all about the dial, which was apparently very difficult to make:

They are starting to get delivered worldwide now so it's only a matter of time before mine arrives.

    Did anyone else order one?

Unfortunately I am going to have to wait a while longer, following this update:

"We would like to give guidance for the Anniversary Reiwa deliveries.
This remains our most challenging project to date, with an extremely hard-to-make dial that has seen very low yields. While yields have improved from 5 per 100 passed, to 20 per 100 passed, this is still significantly less than anticipated. Nevertheless, we will not compromise on quality even if this project is proving to be a cost center. The high-contrast of the mirrored black center with a green brushed-metallic periphery on a curved dial plate is hard to manufacture. This is why the Anniversary Reiwa represents the very last of this line which will be discontinued."

I think it will be worth the wait though!

Wow!! What an amazing brand. I hope that your watch comes through safely as everything is sold out but hardly surprising looking at the beauty of the designs.

    They're quite a revelation.

Wasn't aware of this microbrand. Looks great...I think the dial looks fantastic, not just the colour but the way it captures a sort of futuristic vintage look.

I watched this unboxing...top tip...don't rip open the package with the seal on it!

I did try and buy one during the very-limited launch window and got one in my basket - but for some reason my credit card wasn’t accepted and by the time I sorted that out the window had closed and I couldn’t complete the purchase.

    The dial is mesmerising.

Rocket Man - any chance you could let me have first refusal if you don’t bond with it? :-)

Agh, that's annoying! I'm sorry that you missed out. I think it sold out in about 10 minutes.

I'm hoping that this will be a keeper but then I may have said that before...

The icing on the cake was a personalised birthday message.

I simply enquired about whether it might be shipped in time. Great company to deal with.
