On balance yes, but it would have to be at a vaguely comparable career level. Doubt I’d be doing 60+ hour weeks there or driving from London to Exeter for 9am meetings. Worth a drop IMO but probably not to answer phones at the local council.

I was in Cornwall last week and there are several roads that are private. Anyone know if they have the same level of council tax or if it’s a different scheme where you only pay a partial payment ?

Yep, we are in a private road. Makes no difference to council tax.

Band D £2150 rural Shropshire. 3 bed detached bungalow. To be fair we have a pretty good bus service, and bin service. But the roads are a mess and I can’t remember the last time I saw a policeman in the village.

Interestingly Buck House is 1828 gbp and Windsor Castle is even more, reportedly 2365.16 gbp per year...that can´t be right...

    £3467 council tax
    £1100 water and sewage

That’s with council tax frozen this year
    Big increase in the pipeline

I would have thought both should be subject to business rates

I believe there is certainly some corporation tax applied to Buck House in addition to the CT calculated on the portion of the property the family use...taking the CT element in isolation it's been reported that 46 per cent of UK households will pay a higher amount than Buck House...all in it together

Crown and Armed Forces properties are exempt from CT.

    Large portions are exempted.

Possibly the bits that are classed as domestic dwellings may get it applied?.
