RIP one of the all time car design greats

Sad to hear that Marcello Gandini who designed some of the most iconic cars ever (Miura, Countach, Stratos, etc.) passed away yesterday at the age of 85.

I do not care about any of its shortcomings - his original 1974 LP400 Countach makes my happysacs tingle like no other car ever has, nor ever will, and deserved its place next to Farrah Fawcett on my teenaged bedroom wall! ...aaand that's just one of his amazing designs from back in the day when dreams of uncompromising beauty still had a place in car design...

    Arrivederci Marcello, and RIP!

Sorry to hear. Never had a big interest in sports cars but I did have a little Corgi Miura, 50-odd years ago.

Not a familiar name to me , but the Countach... oh yes!
I remember thumbing through the Poster display in Woolworths back in the day, The Countach along with F40 and 911 flatnose ended up adorning my bedroom wall through my yoof

    RIP Marcello

I quoted up two Pirelli tyres for the rear of a Countach about fifteen / twenty years ago. I remember they were £1001 each plus VAT to me. Always thought the extra £1 was a little mean.

I worked with a guy back in the day who was such a massive fan he named his son after him.
The guy ‘Psy’s stag do was epic with him being carried back to base, passed out, covered in black paint on a purloined ice cream sign.

    RIP
