I remember them being knocked out - around £300 IIRC.

Watch owned the longest from new.

My 16800 Sub from 1983. Bought new for the equivalent of about £495.00 whilst abroad and still gets lots of wrist time!

My father’s lovely solid gold Longines from 1953, which he bought new to celebrate my birth.

He passed away over 50 years ago and I still wear it and look after it.

MRG... One of first from the WIS desease, longest in collection, some 13-14 years.

    A rather paltry 3 years.

Or 10 if you count "NOS"

Bought a Seiko SKX009 new for my birthday back in 2009, still going strong almost 15 years later.
Thought I'd lost it in a house move for a few years only to find it in a random box - like getting a new watch! treated it to a new Uncle Seiko strap to mark the reunion.

Lovely piece Tom that must contain a lot of memories.

I'd get some polywatch on that crystal though.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Glad you say that - that's part of your life history written on the crystal of that watch, be a damn shame to erase it. I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to live through those times...

I must admit that after I wrote that I did think that patina on an heirloom is particularly poignant.
    Cheers,

Over 41 years since it was purchased and still going strong. It seems Seiko is well represented as the first watches many of us had that were meaningful.

CWC G10 - 22 years, still gets plenty of wrist time. Especially if things are likely to get scratchy =)

Has it been running all that time or has it had dead periods? That is incredible battery longevity for 46yrs ! (checks all fingers and toes for arithmetic)

    Especially on 'old quartz tech'.

I too find it amazing. No dead periods, only when the battery was changed.

It is lovely to see a lot of vintage watches here owned from new. I've only had this for 14 years, bought to celebrate a significant work achievement and worn daily for three years, until the need to have more watches kicked in. It's not been serviced yet and still runs at +0.5 secs per day.

Not so cool, but a very 80s Tissot Stylist.
    Bought in Manchester, 1989 & still with B, P & receipt !

    That is amazing.

I got given something similar. It was my Mum’s partners watch, well one of them. Unfortunately it’s dead. I changed the battery but it didn’t restart. Apparently the movement is not available as a spare part. I did wonder if it was worth exploring to get it fixed. Your post makes me think that I should
