    British Watchmakers’ Day

As an Alliance member I have a ticket for myself but a friend would like to attend and there are no more public tickets available.

If you have an unwanted ticket I’d be happy to buy it from you (or perhaps make a donation to Eddie’s charity if you have an unwanted members ticket).

    Thanks

I was in the same boat (also a member, but late to the party), emailed them and they found me a cancelled slot. Worth a try if you're still looking.

Also try Schofield as in their last email Giles was saying that he had some places he could offer.

Other watch companies may also have spare tickets!

I'll be exhibiting there - please drop by the stand and say hello! (sorry I don't have any spare tickets though).

The good people at Brooklands Watches have provided a ticket so the least I can do is give them a plug:

    https://brooklandswatches.com/.

I’m told there will be a small number of Triple-Four models specially produced for the day available via an auction, and I’m looking forward to seeing these.

Where can I find reviews on what happened? Can’t find anything online or how much the Roger Smith fetched at auction.

The show was insanely busy. Non stop from 10am till about 5pm only slowing down a little during the last hour. I spoke to about 4-500 people (mostly in groups). Having done shows before, nothing ever on this scale in terms of number of interactions with people - and best of all - most were genuine customers / people interested in the brands and the British watch scene (versus champagne evenings filled with the industry and press).

1200 people attended 600 morning 600 afternoon. Will undoubtedly be returning next year.

    A grand day out

A pal and I were at the morning session (arriving at about 11 so we missed the pre-opening queue thank heavens!). Great venue with lots of natural light showing the watches to their best advantage, packed, but very friendly. We managed to have chats with the owners/designers at Fears, Farer, Vertex, Siderus, Beaucroft, Brooklands, Isotope and a very brief shake of the hands with the man himself, Roger Smith (I think I read the winning bid for his one off was over £600K). Busiest stand by far was Studio Underdog, however we didn't bother to stand in the long queue for a peek or to nab any of their swag as we weren't in the market for the event specific Model 02 or the pizza dialled 01s and I've already chatted to Richard at the RedBar Global event in Edinburgh and seen the full range at leisure in James. Porter in Glasgow.

I did splash the cash on one of the 25 event specific Beaucroft Seekers https://beaucroftwatches.com/collect...pecial-edition and look forward to receiving it in May (probably not to many pepople's tastes on here!).

Overall I'm really glad it was such a huge success and look forward to seeing what the Alliance and its members have in store for future face to face events.

    Cheers

    Ian

Very much to my taste. I hadn't heard of Beaucroft before, thank you for the heads up.

Apparently the reserve was £295k and Roger Smith announced today on his socials that it sold for “significantly more than double the reserve”

No probs Wimm, I had a good chat with Matt the designer who seems like a throroughly decent bloke and says he's always keen to hear from new or prospective customers. They also offer a customisation service too, but not on the Seeker model at the moment as far sa I'm aware.

    Cheers
