Thread: Panerai replacement screwdriver 1.6mm hollow ground

Panerai replacement screwdriver 1.6mm hollow ground

I’ve had a search and don’t see any real conclusive recommendations in older threads.

Can anyone please recommend a replacement 1.6mm hollow ground screw driver for Panerai Luminor strap changes?

I’ve seen these but not sure if the blade thickness is correct?

I guess alternatively I just fork out for OEM to be safe but I’d like to save a few £ if something is cheaper and effectively does the same job.

Either is fine, as long as they’re described as T blades/parallel blades/hollow ground.

I’ve not found a cheaper alternative.

Thanks I wasn’t sure if the blade tips needed to be a certain thickness to match the screw heads or if there is a standard for 1.6mm

Thanks. I’ve seen those come up in my search but they
    aren’t hollow ground though.

if you’re referring to Rolex bracelet compatibility, my understanding is that the oyster and jubilee links require 1.7 mm and 1.3 mm blades respectively. That said, I know that many people do use 1.6 mm for the oyster.

Need this for Pam Luminor strap changes for which I know 1.6mm is the correct size.

Well this is sorted and full props to the Panerai boutique on New Bond Street. I popped in there and they gave me one for free.

Good outcome. For anyone else needing one, these Victorinox mini corkscrew screwdrivers are genuinely excellent for watch screws. Hollow ground too.

I ordered one when this was last mentioned.

Lord only knows where I put it. Somewhere so safe I’ve not found it in the last 18 months.

You’re supposed to keep it in the corkscrew of your Swiss Army knife!
