    Seiko 6309-7040

Did Seiko do a 6309-7040 with a dial like this?....short text at 6.

See text at 6 position.I always thought it had more than this.

What day is it showing & what language.

    Thanks

A very old photo but still one of the best examples I’ve ever seen. It was also the pic that introduced me to the maroon nato.

Apart from the dial differences, there are also the 2 "variants"

6309-7040 - JPN domestic market and rest of world

    and

6309-7049 which was sold, (designated), for the US market

I would like to know where the N T dial comes from.. Some say Malaysia? I’m not so sure.
The Hong Komg dial is easy, it tells you in the text.
The M T dial seems to be Singapore?

I suspect the N T dial may be Japan, after all it does say in the text.
I do know the N T dial is far and away the rarest 6309 dial. I’ve seen a lot of 6309’s both personally and on the web.. and only a couple of N T over many years.

Ive had many many 6309s come through my hands over the years with the three dials i've shown but have only ever had one NT dial and that wasent mine I just fitted a crystal and gaskets to it for a friend years ago.

    aren't there also 2 "HK Dials" ?

MOVT AND DIAL JAPAN CASED HONG KONG

    and

    MOVT JAPAN CASED HONG KONG

both after the script 6309 7040 (Suwa symbol)

I have one of the variants somewhere but I cannot find it - I have only read about the other

but as most collectors of these "Turtles" know there are many aftermarket dials, hands and bezels out there

Just checked the stash, no NT dials sadly, 3 Hong Kongs and 6 704 LT , the SQ 7548s have 700 LT and the later non SQ dialled 7548s have 701 LT . The 6306 is 700 LT.
    Cheers..

6309-704x are not the only 6309's,, here's a few shots of 6309-729x dials...

I think that if you are looking to buy a 6309 etc., it is useful to know how to spot the fake dials, hands and bezels

The "A" in Japan, the bevelling on the date window, the positioning of the scrip etc., etc., I think "TheTigerUK" now on this Forum put together a thread on the SCWF Forum
