It looks nice but what's the point of the 24hr sub dial?

The position of it in the render would suggest so.

Very little, but I think the dial layout looks rather good. Super to see established manufacturers coming out with nice-looking mechanicals at this kind of price. The kind of thing that might help to get a young person interested.

What movements are these mechanical timex’s using these days?

Almost perfect but then they go and write 'Marlin' in great big bloody letters at 6 o clock on the bezel.

I think they have done that because it’s inside the crystal - it’s to showcase the design feature.

    Cheers mate,

That looks half tidy that. I can ignore the 24 hr dial, could come in handy on occasions.

    I like it.

Just looked at the details on the Timex UK site, depending on the movement and the 24hr dial operation, it could be a winner.

£279 from Timex. I suppose you get what you pay for. It's a very nice looking watch.

It does look nice but I agree, what's the point of the sub-seconds dial when there is also a ticking seconds hand as well.....the sub dial would be better suited at the 6 o'clock position to help with dial symmetry.

The 38mm case size is nice but I think 36mm would be better keeping in the retro theme that Timex are pushing, I'm sure it will be a big seller for them anyway.

    It's a 24hr sub dial.

I like it, including the subdial and Marlin branding.

I think that's a pretty tidy looking watch with some nice touches: I rather like the dished dial and the way the indices are cut into the sides. The Marlin under the crystal I can take or leave.

Given it's a retro-inspired piece with hints of the jet/space age, I would've thought a black leather strap would be a little more obvious than a blue Perlon and it'd bring the watch closer to the wrist, but that's easily fixed (19mm lugs not withstanding).

I think Timex have been doing pretty well of late with issues like this and the Q series, whilst keeping the prices at the sort of range people can actually afford.

You're correct, should have paid more attention but even so I do think it would look way better with the dial at the 6 position but each to their own I guess.

I'm not really feeling the appeal, the Jet age and sector dial 'thing' surely done a whole league better by Eddie's own Transglobal models...Plus it's quite tall increases the chance of the crystal taking a whack, the 19 mm lugs can be a pain and minimal water resistance...sure it's cheap but really meh, not for me.

I really like it, but it's a touch too big for my taste.

Like or dislike, there's some real thought gone into this design, a conscious effort to step just a little outside the conventional, and a little more of a quality feel to the final product than their more mainstream stuff. I'm a fan of their Giorgio Galli range too - great looking watches, nicely executed - if I ever wore dress watches I'd own one.
