I've missed most Friday threads for the past few months but here's today's wear.

The dial is stunning with changing tones from silver through to a rich champagne depending on the light. Think I'm right in saying it's the only steel Rolex to be produced with gold hands and indecies. Bit of a sleeper I'd say.

Received this today. Had my eyes on this model on and off for 15 odd years. Only regret now that I didn’t pull the plug much earlier.

I had no idea that Cortebert were involved in early electric - always thought of them more as a pocket watch movement shop.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Of course there are the inevitable hand and helmet innuendos ....... but that if I'm not mistaken is a City Of London helmet with the C being for Bishopsgate...70's early 80's? Would like to know more about its history, if you have info.

Correct, it’s a Bishopgate lid. Not sure of the year, but I think the size may make it more of a ceremonial or presentation helmet.

Will PM how I came by it.

Thank you. The little pops of orange and the polished date wheel really set it off for me.

Unfortunately there is little mystery in the movement as it is a standard ESA Dynotron within. I have seen a number of different dials in the same case and a number of brands on those dials (I have a rather lovely champagne dialed Iaxa too).

You can always rely on me to lower the tone of a thread.

I have often thought of posting this watch; it has a tale to tell.

It is a beat-up old J Springs quartz diver.

I mentioned in a thread several years ago that I get through copious amounts of watches when working as a car repairer. They get hit, welded, immersed in a slipstream of grinding sparks, doused with noxious fluids, the full gamut of all that shouldn't happen to a watch.
Shortly afterwards I was sent this, free of charge. It was from a kind TZ member who had been using it for experimentation with reluming, an experiment that on this occasion ( a first attempt iirc) didn't achieve acceptable results. The kind member decided that it may as well end its days at the coalface. Very kind of him.

Quite possibly the worst ever photo of the worst ever condition watch in the entire history of the Friday thread, but every time I glance at it I think of the kindness it represents and it makes me smile.

Three Blancpain's in a single week, perhaps a record?
