Very sad. A wonderful player, and a wonderful man. He was one of my heros, well they all were back then (I am also 74).

    RIP JPR.
I recall in school some boys having their socks rolled down at their ankles playing rugby and the PE teacher saying "when you can play as well as JPR, you have earned the right to wear your socks like he wears them, until then PULL YOUR *@#$#@ SOCKS UP"

He lived a few streets from me, very sad.

Amazing sportsman but by all accounts his skills as a surgeon were not quite as well regarded lol.

    RIP.

RIP JPR Williams. A true giant of the game.

and of course the two high tackles he suffered in his part in the best try ever scored.

Very sad news. I was about 8 by the time his international career ended, and yet I can recall his brilliance even at that young age, he was always one of my most favourite attacking players.

My Mrs worked with him quite a lot in her nursing role. She always told me he would happily take the rap for other people's mistakes as he was pretty much untouchable. She's very sad about the news.

He was before my time but without doubt a fantastic player
Fearless in the tackle, fantastic vision and the speed for a break not to mention a side step that would sent the crowd the wrong way.

A quality player for both Wales and Lions - not a bad Barbarian either. There was a great anecdote on Talksport today from a Welsh podcaster, about him playing at age 50 for his local club. It's well worth a listen if you can find it - I won't spoil it by trying to write it down but it was at about 2pm today.

A different era altogether for the game but there there would be a large number of players from then who would have been great today - JPR would have been one of them
