    The Inevitable Luke Littler Thread

So many things, obvious and less obvious, to say about him

Here's him hitting a 9 darter at the age of 14, his opponent having scored 58

He looks almost as old as I do!

    16?

Very impressive and all that but I don’t see why your age has any impact on your ability to play darts as it’s not really a physical sport is it? - and I didn’t look that old at 35 tbh!

    Hello

    Wish him well.

I’m enjoying the darts, some cracking games.

Abilities are unquestionable but isn’t sport supposed to make you fit?

The muscle control and movement coordination probably qualify for a sport, mind.

In this one, I love the little smile to himself before throwing the fourth 50, it's something beyond confidence

Is it this thread that is inevitable or is that his darts nickname?

The only way he's 16 is if he was born on the 29th of Feb.

He would fit right into to the Saudi Arabia under 16 team that beat Scotland in the final of 89

I read that his celebration meal was a doner meat and mayo wrap, so he should have a good 5 years ahead of him

It must be the thread. According to Wikipedia, Luke Littlers nickname is “The Nuke.”

The top half of the draw is wide open now, so he's got as much chance as anyone else of making the final.

My money would be on an Anderson vs MVG final though.

As always, plenty of negativity already on show in this thread - his weight and looks already called out a number of times. Why?

I’m not a huge follower of darts, but I think his story is a great one. He’s young, enjoys the game and clearly has a natural talent. It’s all good isn’t it?

Feeling the need to be negative about him is very odd to me, especially when he’s just a kid.

I’m excited to see what he can achieve.

I am sticking to my opinion that the lad looks incredibly older than his age, but I don't consider that to be a negative view of him, just observational.
I like watching him play, his displayed confidence is admirable, and I wish him well.
If he gets through the next round I will be surprised but delighted.

    Hello

It’s a great time for darts, lots of new players coming through and playing at a high standard. And a few of the more established ones raising their standard as well.

And you can’t beat the PDC Dancers as well!

He nailed the two T20s, and then went for a 10 to set up double top (Barney was miles behind) and hit D10, leaving himself 30. And of course he stuck his next dart in D15 :-)

    Sensational stuff.

Barney's average only dipped below 100 in his last two throws and he got absolutely stuffed tonight.

Littler's cover shots to 19s were very impressive. Really solid performance with no fear, he could front run his way to the title.

Fantastic composure from someone so young playing top level darts in the biggest competition there is in the sport. He’s obviously in a huge purple patch and making the most of every match, whether it’s a one shot wonder who knows. But he’s lighting up this world championship with some quite incredible darts, it’ll take a very good player scoring heavy to take him out.

Not seen lately but he was wearing a gold Hublot in the summer. A few nice ones out there.

MVG wears I think a Rolex Deepsea
Gary Anderson has a 2T Daytona
Chizzy has a Rolex, not sure which
Wade has a 2T GMT or Sub
    Michael Smith has a Yachtmaster
Adrian Lewis also used to wear a 2T Sub

Leaves himself 170 to win the first set of his QF against Dolan

Nails the two T20s ... turns to the crowd, seeking a reaction about whether to go for the Bull (Dolan is miles behind). They roar their approval. Missed it, but love the showmanship LOL. Won the set anyway of course :-)

Unbelievable again tonight. Cross was the best he's been all tournament and yet got completely blown away.

This train is not slowing down and shows no signs of being derailed !

I'm not even sure I could beat Luke if I had a 469 point head start per leg LOL

  44. #44
I've been following darts since I was a kid, I've never seen anyone hit T19's like this kid can and don't even get me started on his D10's...

Cost me my bet tonight, I thought Cross was going to grind him down...

I watched a bit of his match this evening; the first time I've ever watched darts. The composure for a sixteen year old is amazing but then I think of myself at that age (a very long time ago) and know that pressure is/was completely absent. Good luck in the final and let's see if the BBC give him as much as a mention in SPOTY 2024.

    He has been amazing.
Although didn’t start the match brilliantly today - that was a test, but the way he turned it on during the second set proved he’s the real deal.
Another big test tomorrow against the now world no 1 I believe.

Just read that he's pocketed £200,000 just for making the final, with that jumping to half a million if he wins!
If feeling like I wasted my youth now, should have been in the pub chucking arrows.

Absolute dream tournament for the lad, I hope he lifts the trophy now.
