Still love this show.
Don't need to watch sport for the year, can get a full update in 2 hours!
It's good that they give a platform to disabled sport and women's sport too
Bit schmaltzy but Beep do it well.

It’s dead, can only vote from a shortlist selected by the panel, effectively from sports shown by the BBC
And now relegated from a flagship Sunday evening slot to Tuesday.
Didn't watch it, will hope to do so on catchup, but the Beeb just doesn't have the ability to show it all any more, so the programme really lacks in non-Olympic years.
Hopefully will go the way of Question of Sport fairly soon.
Frankie Dettori was shortlisted for the main award but is not British (is he??). Erling Haaland was born in Leeds but only won the overseas award.
A shadow of its former self but watched and voted. For me the winner should have been KJT, battled back from career threatening injuries to win a world title in a multi-discipline solo event.
Garbage list of nominees.
It's finished.
It was finished years ago. Not watched it for around a decade now. Pointless.
That's the spirit TZers!

Is Mary Earps sponsored by Ann Summers🤔
After the summer he had I find it hard to believe Stuart Broad only finished second.
Mary Earps just loosed off a few expletives after that penalty save and that is it.
What about Broady goading the Aussies after they stumped Bairstow? Or hitting your final ball for six and taking a wicket with your final delivery in Test cricket??
The question I have is what is/are the criteria used in deciding the shortlist and winners. Maybe the results make more sense if we know that.
1. Pick a Lioness.
2. Select other nominees, but make sure they’re not too popular, have not had their best years, or are from obscure sports.
3. Select a WSL match featuring the Lioness to broadcast the weekend before SPOTY.
4. In the days before SPOTY post numerous articles all over the internet gushing about Lioness.
5. Employ former Lioness to gush about Lionesses just before the vote opens.
Lots of info here

It’s this bit that’s most telling for me:
“Prior to 2012, a panel of 30 sports journalists each submitted a list of 10 contenders. From these contenders a shortlist of ten nominees was determined. This method was criticized following the selection of an all-male shortlist in 2011. The selection process for contenders was changed for the 2012 and subsequent awards by the introduction of an expert panel.”
Diversity now trumps achievement. Now I’m sure that Mary Earps would still have been nominated under the old system, and I’m sure the likes of Emma Raducanu would still have won under the old system, but the current system does restrict the levels of competition and means that equally worthy winners miss out on even a nomination if they mean that the final contenders aren’t seen as diverse enough.
Yeah but....
So who didn't get nominated that should have, that doesn't tick a diversity box?
Apart from Josh Kerr. Tom Pidcock, Alex Yee?
Rocket Ronnie, Fury? Both public stated they don't want to be involved?
Millie Bright is probably the one. Won the league, the cup, semis of CL, captained her country to the world cup final coming back from a serious injury......

It's as if Marina Hyde has read this thread.
Misunderstanding of the word "personality." CHECK
The vote was wrong. CHECK
The BBC was wrong. CHECK
Her clothing was wrong. CHECK
Someone else should have won it, who wasn't nominated. CHECK

Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations
Hardly getting knickers in a twist, if you didn’t want an opinion then why post it in the first place, unless you’re a bit of a troll who likes a bit of drama…

To be honest I had only heard of 4 of the nominees: Dettori,Rory ,Johnso-Thompson and vaguely Broad.
The box tickers have killed the show
Haven't sat down and watched it in a few years now.
