Just read this and it’s sad, sad news. A great writer and poet and seemed a genuinely good guy.

Sad news this morning, as others have said he seemed like a decent bloke, with Christmas fast approaching
    this seems appropriate...

Poetry is a bit of a mystery to me, but I was very sorry to read this this morning.

What a shame. He was certainly one of the good guys.

RIP Benjamin. I remember him as a calm voice in the "Big Question" debates with Nicky Campbell in particular.

I'm not familiar with his poetry but have seen him numerous times on the panel of current affairs programmes and he always came across as very intelligent, well informed, and above all just plain decent. RIP.

The tribute to him by Villa at the home match against Arsenal at the weekend was very moving.

Must admit never heard of him before seeing this, I must be in the minority thinking his work does nothing for me but young still to have passed away.
