    Driveway alarm recommendations

I live in a quiet area and luckily we have experienced little crime in the 30+ years of being here.

Recently though there has been a number of incidents during the night. Vehicles and sheds broken into and reports of people trying door handles. The house a few doors along had their Ford Fiesta broken into and the car pushed some distance away. The police said the OBD port had been tampered with but it looks like the thieves were disturbed before they could get a new key programmed.

I'm satisfied as I can be with the security I have on the house itself but I'd like some alert if anyone walks through the gates or down the long side path leading to the rear of the house, which is very difficult to physically secure.

Saw these on Amazon. Does anyone have this product or something similar and is there anything better I should be looking at. I like the solar powered aspect as getting power to the front gates would be a pain.

Thanks all and a reminder to check your doors and windows are secured now the dark nights are here.

Amazon blink cameras are battery powered if the location you're thinking of would get WiFi?

I’d go down the RING route, there is a solar panel adapter that is really good. My rear garden camera is powered by it and is always 100% charged. Lots of products in the RING line up that work very well.

Interesting on the solar as wasn’t sure of the charger would work through winter.

We have 2 batteries in it currently and 3 other cams indoors that we only use when away, but rather not be changing batteries about given the choice.

Should have said but the blink cameras have a 2yr battery life so that really isn't a consideration.

No subscription and easy USB storage too.

    I have this one

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Dr...s%2C115&sr=8-3

It's brilliant. Let's is know when anyone is outside. Get the odd false alarm if a bird or cat goes Infront but that's not often.

If it ever broke I'd get another.

Ring cameras can be set to only respond to people to avoid false triggers.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

We use ours to track where our cat is - love the alleged false triggers lol.

Or hearing the cat sitter turn the hue lights off at the mains FFS.

That link doesn't work for me. Can you post the Amazon product ref or a photo so I can search.

    Thanks.

Agreed - but don't forget the £8pm subscription.

This new Eufy one looks very smart, has an alarm built in too. A lot of the Eufy stuff is reduced for Black Friday weekend too
