I can’t believe that is a real name for a festival. (Trying to find the emoji where I am sick 濫).

You say that as if it's a bad thing. In any case, trust me, that's not particularly tweedy
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

If they think that Rollie doesn't mean a rollie, what do Americans call rollies?

I can't think of anything worse. A few of us TZers met up the other day and it was pointed out we'd spent at least five minutes talking watches (an SLA017 made an appearance) when normally we just wouldn't bother. More important things to worry about like drinking beer and eating foreign food. Each to their own.

Yes but for some reason we went for a Thai. I know, I feel your pain.

Would have liked to attend but my San Martin SN021 was in for service at St James's at the time.

When I lurked on Paneristi, I loved looking at the pictures posted of their GTGs.

The attendance ratio went something like this:

10 people present - three were obese, one was stick-thin, one was really, really lacking in the looks department, 3 rather shapeless men in their forties/fifties were dressed as if they were in their twenties, there was one ordinary-looking chap, a possible trans-woman & somebody had brought their rather-confused trophy wife. Eight of the 10 had recent teeth veneers. Those wearing jackets favoured them tighter than Norman Wisdom.

They were always, always pictured in an upmarket restaurant drinking $100+ bottles of wine. The food always looked a bit sub-par.

There was a de rigeur group shot of the (generally early middle-age) attendees which, for some reason, always had them demonstrating some obscure gang hand signs.

The watches on the table shot (the 'table-shot') was always the most interesting.

    Quite miss seeing them, actually.

Some beauties in there, thanks. Although I was pleased to see someone sneak an unpretentious Doxa into the mix. Fred's looking old ...

I got invited as I know the organiser.
    $1300 usd fee.
All brands and ages of watches were welcome, if you check the very good pictures, you’ll see many different brands and price points.

You are almost exactly describing what happened.
    Only difference is scale.
All the rest was window dressing.
