I realised this morning that one of my watches recently celebrated a milestone birthday. My Speedmaster 125 was 50 years old in August.
I've always been a fan of Omega's design in the 1970's, and over the years I've owned most of the Speedmaster "Mark" series watches, but the 125 is head and shoulders above anything else (IMHO). It's a big old watch (and heavy), but as I'm used to wearing bigger watches maybe that's part of the appeal for me?
I found this being sold by a Swiss gentleman back in 2008. He told me he was was the original owner, and had been working for Omega at the time. So 35 years in his ownership, and now 15 in mine.

These are such a watch of their time and a bit of a bargain in todays over inflated world.
I really like them.
Probably one of the best examples on the planet! Not a favourite of mine, big rectangular watches don't look right on me, but I get the appeal.
Lovely Speedmaster. I'm also a big fan of this era and still enjoy my ref 176.0015, one of the slightly more manageable members of the family.

I've tried Speedmasters but they're just not for me. The mark II (black & orange) is one I've wanted to try for a while but yours is lovely.

Beautiful watch and photos Rich, and a perfect example. I was so enthused I went off investigating, but I then saw the 15mm thickness (which I reckon would grate with me). Thanks for sharing though, not seen enough in these parts - I hope you celebrated its 50th in style.

Have become an increasing fan of the Mark series, and that is a cracker.
My own Mark II is constant companion.
