Where to sell my CD collection?

I'm having a clear out and am wondering how to sell my CD collection?

I have some collectable box sets of 60's music (Beatles in Mono, Nuggets, Pink Floyd etc).

Is Ebay my best bet or are there any specialist record shops that might be interested?

I don't think you'll get much for CDs mainstream buyers:

For Vinyl ETSY seems to have a few vinyl stores that might be worth a look/ contacting or at least give you an idea of pricing perhaps?

If you think some of it has value do a bit of research on Discogs. You may want to list some there if its worth your time.

I could be interested, perhaps post photos of the CD spines in stacks and TZ'ers may buy some from you.

I used Music Magpie to offload my CDs after I had ripped them all to a hard drive. Maybe not the best prices but the thought of doing them individually on EBay just wasn’t an option.

Picking up all sorts of good albums from boot sales at 3 for a quid.

I like my music to be tangible rather than something floating in the ether.

Run of the mill CDs are relatively worthless and not worth hassle of entering on Music Magpie, boot sale etc IMO.

After ripping mine just binned them as they're not supposed to be sold on anyway.

I disposed of a large chunk of my CD collection a couple of years back. I used musicmagpie, ziffit and zapper for quite a lot of them. Musicmagpie accepted the most but often would only offer 1p. The others accepted less but generally would offer a bit more.

The rest I got rid of on eBay as a job lot - 99p no reserve auction and I got....99p! The long suffering wife of a local jazz musician came and picked them up - apparently he was a music nut who loved listening to new music of any type so he was very happy with them. I would nio doubt have got more if'd sold them as smaller lots of similar genres but I really couldn't be bothered.

My main goal though TBH was for them not to end up in land-fill (at least not on my watch) rather than make money. The ones I really liked a lot or have some value I did keep.

I scanned all mine onto musicmagpie, not bothered selling the bulk of them yet, but any that musicmagpie flagged up as being worth more than a quid or 2, i put on ebay and sold most for a tenner +P&P

Why bother selling if they're not worth much? I`m old school, I`ll always hang on to CDs, I play them on decent equipment and enjoy the sound quality.

When I was limbering up to depart your neck of the woods, I took most my CDs and DVDs to the Red Cross shop over the road from The Capitol, and they looked *very* pleased to have something half-decent for once.

Took a lot of vinyl to a shop locally,mine weren't worth much if anything,but everything he was selling was worth selling at stupid prices!.And yet had I sold them to him they would have been on display as the ones to have.

Some old seemingly common CD's can be worth £20 -500 or more. MM knows this, you only have to check their eBay listings to see they are doing very well from buying bulk loads of CD's for next to no money. They would hit some rich veins buying bulk collections from people who bought the bulk in early-mid 80's, or who had slightly obscure tastes.

I've just sold my entire collection to my local record store for £600 (3 boxes of CDs plus some box sets).

I'm sure I could have got more selling them individually on Discogs but that would have taken forever.

They came round, spent 15 mins looking over the collection, made what I thought was a decent offer, transferred the cash and took the CD's away with them. Easy deal.

For ease, I sent most of mine to Music Magpie. Went for a pittance really but I have a Spotify account and YouTube premium.... there's not much you can't find there.

However, I do still listen to CDs in the car, so the last couple of years I've probably bought back a lot of my old stuff, the 90s rap and hip-hop, the 2000s dance, the early Indie gear. (I do precisely the same with watches... get bored, sell up, then 6 months later scour ebay for the same models I've sold. i suspect some loose wiring upstairs).

I’d say that’s a really reasonable offer. I’m just having sort through a lot of my mums stuff to help her make some space and didn’t realise these would still hold a decent amount of money.
