Quite like the straps, but not as exciting as I was expecting.

I had to search the page a couple of times as I thought I was on the wrong model. Ah well, that's money saved.

    Bit of an anti climax

But loads of people have said they wanted a black fxd! So guess it won’t be attainable for 9 months ish

  11. #61
Looks alright, nicer than the blue, IMO.

As above, ruined by fixed bars. It only serves to reduce the watch’s versatility. IF I was worried about springbar failure, I could just wear regular springbars on a nato, knowing that the chances of both bars failing at the same time is ludicrously small.

Make a pelagos 39 that looks like this (no sunburst) and I might be interested.

I wonder when Tudor were designing this and planning the launch it ever occurred to them that it would be received with so much apathy. It's not for me but I bet it sells a lot

Oh I think it'll do fine.
With a uni-directional elapsed time bezel, as well as being black, it is a genuine range extension for the FXD.
But the elephants in the room remain there, no matter how much they circle around the perfect Tudors.

And the way they do their launches, with mystery and a countdown and everything else, will always leave the majority disappointed.

Whether they be people who want the new Big Block, a de-blinged Pelagos 39, a blue one, a Pelagos GMT, a Sub, a Black Bay with crown guards, or whatever they yearn for.

What a waste of time. As mentioned by Wileeeeeey this didn't need all the marketing hype. A secret drop on the site would have been good for such a range extension like this.
The way it presented, it is definitely an anti climax. Glad I did not follow RyanB advice to contact Tudor in advance.

Can you imagine they actually paid for influencers and journalists to fly to Florida for a new colour. An actual new model full blown launch for a new colour. Whoever signed that one off will end up in a marketing job with the woman who just took indefinite leave from Budweiser.

They’ll need to sell 250k units just to recoup the marketing costs before you even see a penny of profit but that’s ok, the entire marketing dept can now give themselves a 5 at their annual review. Go team!

The cost is minor compared with the damage to their Green Credentials. Big business is trying to be Net Zero, with Tudor's parent company claiming to fund all sorts of things to protect the planet. Yet on the other hand flying people around the globe to take photos of a watch we've all seen before.

Shambles honestly, all this hype and as others have said flying journos and influencers around the globe all for a new dial colour on an existing watch.

Watch brands should really only announce/hype up a release when there’s a new model or significant changes. All this waiting for just a different colour watch is a bit mad.

Absolutely hit the nail on the head there. When Davide was in role it was a bullseye everytime, now they barely hit the board

But it’s got an ‘un’ directional bezel according to the web page. Obviously they are all on the sauce at their ‘launch’ party as they’ve had a hood few hours to sort that now.

I like it, the bezel is much better, just needs a grey nato.

Will this replace the standard Pelagos?

No way, the bracelet Pelagos will contrinue.
There is a question whether they will ever do a standard Pelagos (without the fixed bars) with do-date. I think people would really go for that.

    Display until stock arrives.

Also there OG Pelagos will continue, it’s a bit of bargain spec wise compared to other pelagos options.

I actually really like the look of this. I've been waiting for a 124060 Sub for years, and am beginning to get impatient.

My only gripe, which I can't un-see, is too much negative space on the dial. If they could push the 4 lines of text at 6 o'clock up a touch, and bring the Tudor logo down, it'd be perfect. Anybody else see what I mean?

Still, would love to see one in the metal.

I think the Pelagos 39 would be closer to the Sub, at least it comes with a bracelet.

I like the look of this watch overall but Tudor's marketing has really put me off them.

The whole FXD spiel was that is was developed with, and for a French Naval Unit, which was fine. Then they make up a story about this 'New' watch looking back to the past and being inspired by the American Navy, to develop something brand new. And to quote Adrian from Bark & Jack, "It's black".

You're telling me that they had to be inspired by the American Navy's past watches, to decide to produce a watch they already make in blue, now in black, like all the other Pelagos. I don't know what Tudor think of their customer base, but on latest evidence, very little.

I had looked at one, but didn't really get on with it. I have the same criticism for the dial on that as I do on the FXD. That and the shiny bezel. Guess I better keep waiting for that Sub...

Saw one in the window earlier this week. Didn’t go in to try it on but it looked really nice in the window. I think I would have the black over the blue.

Saw a black FXD in Fraser Hart Peterborough today. Prefer it to the blue FXD but then I always preferred the blue original Pelagos to the black. Just something about the slightly brighter ultramarine blue really made it stand out.

Now this will be ironic given my prediction last time but I was told last week by Ernest Jones that Tudor ARE releasing a Sub. No idea if this is it or how true that is, so let's see
