I've always loved the Fifty Fathoms, but it's out of my price range for sure. When they announced the Blancpain / Swatch collab, I was keen to see what came out, but have been underwhelmed. If anything, it has got me looking at a Seiko Fifty Five Fathoms as a bit of a project, and get something to the specs I want. I'l be close to a Swatch store in a few weeks, so I may change my mind when I see one, but I doubt it...
agrred on the seiko FF. Alway wanted one and this collab has reminded me i never got one in the end. Gonna get one now and leave this swatch thing

I'm sure the hullabaloo around the MoonSwatch created interest in the Omega, but I can't imagine anyone after a £250 watch then went out and bought a £5k one because they liked the style of it.

I rather like the Pacific Scuba watch, but not for £300+ anymore than the MoonSwatch appeals at £250.

I have seen a few people that are pretty well off and previously worn run of the mill Rolexes etc wearing them so I wouldn’t be surprised if they bought an omega at a later date. It’s not like they cannot afford them

What's the cause of it being "snowy" like that? Have never seen a speckled trace quite like that before.

Yeah, as I tried to say it probably raised the profile of the Speedy, but I doubt anyone is buying the MoonSwatch as their primary watch and then making the leap to Omega watches.

Obviously the wealthy can buy a MoonSwatch without thinking about the money.

Probably echoes in the plastic, sorry, bioceramic case. Not helped by the muppet who set this up leaving the strap in place too, between the case and the microphone...

Edinburgh has the Antarctic, Pacific and Indian in stock, they appear to be pretty easily available already.

First impressions, a lot better than the Moonswatch.

  8. #308
Picked one up from Oxford st at lunchtime too, no queue and a few colours available.

  9. #309
Quite like the Antarctic. Not enough to buy one though.

2 security at the Glasgow store but no queue to be seen

Didn't venture in so no idea on stock levels

I’m holding out for Swatch x Breguet. With any luck a minute repeater.

We were at Battersea Power Station on Monday morning so looked in the Swatch store, they didn't have any stock of the Blancpain version but said stock turns up randomly. We were staying in a hotel opposite but I didn't bother going back, they looked ok(light grey being the nicest as I felt setting photos) but think the novelty would have worn off pretty fast and not sure I'd end up wearing it over my other watches.

They only had 3 colours of MoonSwatch, my wife bought the pale blue one but mainly as my stepdaughter wants it so she will have it next time she visits(she lives in Argentina).

Interestingly we were only in the store for about 10 minutes and in that time 3 separate what I suspect were resellers came in asking "Moon's/Neptune's?" and then gone again as if regular routine. Guess those are still in high demand. The Neptune display one looked nice but again I don't think I'd have bothered even if they did have them, my MoonSwatch desire has long faded at this point.

    Anyway just sharing my thoughts.

I see the knockoffs have hit AliExpress.

Most seem to be quartz with photos showing some cogs in the back, presumably (assuming they're even there in what arrives) just for effect.

Is it me or is the 30 slightly on the wonk?

Still wanting to try one of those, but now wondering if quality control is lacking

Looks fine in real life. Could be the angle or the slight dome of the bezel, or both of them.

They had the Artic, Pacific and Indian in Covent Garden today. Tried on the Pacific and wasn’t a fan so gave it a miss

For anyone who is interested, Cov Garden appear to regularly have all the Moon Swatches in now.

    Nice haul there!!

I have to admit I have sent some offers on ebay to the sellers seems that they are still on them, as they are about a month old according to some of the receipts.

Offering around near retail price but none are really wanting to go that low and I am wondering if they are taking into account their sellers fees hence why some are only £60 more than retail.

I am glad you like them.
But this hobby can be fun without having to buy throwaway watches, just because they have a brand on.
For me, the choice here is not Fun vs Not Fun.
It is more Extolling Tat vs Calling Tat Out

Surely you can also see that putting the Blancpain name on a Sistem 51 watch is a joke - that's where the fun is.

Managed to snag one from Oxford Street. Impressed with the quality compared to the moonswatch. Bezel clicks nicely with little play in it (better than a Zodiac). Wears pretty nice too. And very good quality nato.

Got one from Covent Garden today and agree. Seems a clear step up from the Moonswatch but still a Swatch. Wasn’t expecting the strap to be as long as it is. Need to google some strap options tonight.

Can anyone explain how these watches and this initiative can come from the same company?

I know cognitive dissonance is increasingly common for corporates, but surely somebody at HQ thinks that a plastic, non-repairable trinket sits awkwardly alongside their conservation, preservation and education activities?

What have you done with the tail of your strap? Can't see it in the pic. It's a bit long, but can be tucked away somewhat neatly :) I put another nato strap on there but prefer the original.

P.S. nice look, just in time for halloween too!

Swatch has confirmed that the case back does come off and this watch is repairable

Movement swapping is not really comparable to repairing, is it? And either way, how is this a sustainable product in line with BP's Ocean Commitment, etc?

Heh - adding insult to injury, the slogan currently on the BP homepage is - "There is eternity in every Blancpain."

    Why devalue the brand name.

    Horrible looking watches.

What looks like fairground tat or something you would buy from a Turkish seaside beach shop is fun?

Plenty of toy watches available everywhere, £20 quid for the watch, £300+ for marketing.

Not sure I feel the same way. Really like the white one and don’t feel like it has “devalued” my regular no rad. In fact if they made the exact same watch in ceramic and sold it for 100x the price, I’d still buy it.

By that logic, this whole forum should be buying the senraw watches instead of the 4 digit vintage subs.

Empty shop at Battersea Power Station today apart from 3 sales staff and 2 burly security. All versions available apart from the orange Artic. Was going to buy the white but left it as it didn’t have a date window and was put off by the scuba water presence contact indicator.

I've seen the collection in the Swatch shop at the Champs Elysees in Paris. I was not impressed! (The shop itself however is certainly worth a visit!)

I tried it on at the Swatch boutique in Hamburg this week, quite like the watch but it wears very awkward due to the high case and thick NATO underneath, I was disappointed and left without one.
