    News App Recommendation

For years I have used the BBC News app on my iPhone to check out the latest news. It wasn't perfect but did what I wanted it to with main headlines and a section for 'My News' where I could get news from specific regions of interest.

All good until the latest update which has redesigned the app completely and it is now utterly awful, doesn't refresh the stories, shows me the same story 4 times on the same screen, wont play landscape videos in landscape, the list goes on. In typical BBC style, they have taken something which worked and have broken it while 'making improvements'.

Can someone please recommend a similar news app as a replacement. Ideally with a selectable regional 'my news' option if possible. I have zero interest in celebrity news, so am looking for real news stories without too much 'celebrity guff'.

    TIA

Ditto. I would be interested in some others. Tried a few.. Reuters and Economist are not bad. I tend to just use Google news these days tbh, and to whichever story/news outlet that takes me.

Al jazeera is quite good for international news.

Can you not just browse bbc.co.uk/news?

I recently registered for the Reuters news app. It’s free, easy to navigate and you can set it for the stories you want.

    I like Sky News app.

BBC app I also browse but agree this update may take some getting used to.

I have used the BBC News app for years. The latest update has completely ruined it for me.

I will give the Reuters one a go.

I have used the Guardian as a good news app. I think there’s a point it switches to a paywall big just delete and reinstall app. It has been my go to news app for a few years now, if you can align with / ignore or rise above the political perspective of the outlet.

It is possible to download the previous version, and set the phone not to auto update.

Sky and BBC for me - I generally find the BBC updates unwelcome but get used to the new format in due course
