My wife’s new addition to her collection

    36mm steel Datejust.

The 36mm is a classic. When I was younger, I thought the plain bezel and oyster was the best. However, now older the fluted bezel and jubilee is the best combination, in my opinion.

    The dial looks great.

    Classy and classic, love it.

The dial is blue/grey/black. The angle and light play an important role in this case.

    That's really nice!

The one time you might wear something belonging to the wife. Love the motif dials, I’d be very happy with a blue motif dial, fluted bezel on oyster bracelet, 41mm.

    Very nice

Would happily wear similar in 41mm blue or green.
It's just a matter of time...

Hard to beat that. I find myself more drawn to these lately, I think I prefer them to the professional range. The 36mm size is classy.

Wish there was a dateless version (personal preference)... introducing the new Rolex: Just.

Come on, you know you're among friends here!
It is absolutely fabulous though. I suggested a DJ to Mrs Beanie but she doesn't like the date/cyclops so ended up with an OP

Albeit that it's 40mm (a smidge less, in fact). All the better for it, miind.

Very nice combination that. I'm a fan of the motif dials.

This morning, out in the open air:

We went to Maastricht on Saturday and visited the dealer where my wife already had bought a 36mm Oyster Perpetual 'Red Grape' back in 2015. The 'idea' was a Datejust, this time: different bezel, date, different bracelet. At one moment a row of Datejusts was before us on the table, ending with this one. I've never seen so many Datejusts IRL.

Excellent choice. I remember offering to buy a datejust for the Mrs but she picked an Omega instead.

That’s lovely. I’m still waiting to get the call for a DJ36 in mint green, but that’s got me wondering.

Lovely version. It would be the one I would chose for myself given a chance.

i recently did exactly that, went back to the roots after years of sportswatch and daytona's (still have a white face s/s ceramic) and bought a 36mm DJ fluted bezel, blue face, jubilee bracelet.

It is to my eyes the coolest, most underrated watch they make. There is something of a 5711 about it, size, style, representation of the brand, albeit for a fraction of the price.

They are relatively rare because generally overlooked.
