    Liverpool Watches?

    Hi All,

Have any of you had any dealings with this company?

    http://liverpoolwatches.co.uk

A few alarm bells ringing (just a mobile number and no sign of a physical address etc), but maybe I’m being too harsh.

Can’t seem to find much about them online.

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

With a shop front looking that good you would have thought they would tell you where it is.

From there website :- "Free shipping on all UK orderor order above $200. Contact us 24 hours a day, 7 daysa week".

Why order in USD in the UK? Maybe just poor proof reading.

Be interesting to know if HM has heard of them. I’m not aware of where they are in Liverpool and as stated no address.

    Nice Red Sub listed.

    Not heard of them.

Story and locations sound a bit like DMR, but has anyone in Liverpool, Altrincham, Manchester or Canary Wharf seen one of these four showrooms they claim?

No addresses and only a mobile phone number doesn’t look promising.

Ripping out Rolex signage if not a main agent will be expensive.

Never seen their stores in Manchester or Altrincham personally, definitely rings alarm bells.

Check "their" facebook group. The whole company just seems to be one fella called Gav, who sells Tag Heuers online. No physical location/store details given.

This text is on DMR’s site :

“As Liverpool reverberated to the sounds of The Beatles, an iconic journey was beginning around the corner in a small workshop. Over 50 years on, the story continues with four showrooms across the UK, in Manchester, Canary Wharf, Altrincham and our spiritual home of Liverpool.”

    Seem familiar ?

I think the OP might want to look elsewhere and give this site a miss. Stick to a trusted seller rather than an outfit which people on here who know Liverpool and Manchester have never heard of.

ABSOLUTELY, thanks to everyone who’s commented! Gut feeling was right, something just wasn’t right!

    Thanks again everyone :-)

I’ll take the Red Sub, but are these just direct lifts from other sellers sites or images taken from watch forums. I did have a look for the Sub, but didn’t find anything.

My first thought was that they were carrying literally unbelievable levels of stock, in both value and quantity.

That plus the $200 makes it one to avoid for sure.

  19. #19
They’ve copied some of their FAQs from a company called Horando in Germany.

If you want to buy one of their watches, you have to fill in your details and they’ll phone you back.

I’ve had Nigerian begging letters more convincing than this.

I suggest a few telephone calls tomorrow asking if we can physically call in to the Liverpool / Paris / New York boutiques to see the watches could be interesting.

I've found which shop front they've photoshopped to pretend it's their's.

https://liverpoolwatches.co.uk Check the shop picture at the bottom.

Here it is, Wempe in Hamburg:

The extent these scammers go to is worrying. I hope the website gets removed ASAP before someone gets burned.

That shop front looks amazing but they don’t have a landline contact number - major red flag!

On another Liverpool note, Haywood have you had any dealings with GMG watches in Liverpool? Safe to deal with? Thanks.

I feel a right numpty for even thinking they could be real now! But at least it’s raised them to everyone’s attention, if nothing else!

They will be real just don’t have the shops they say.

There’s numerous of these types operating in Liverpool. Instagram is flooded with them.

They source the watch once you’ve paid.

My nephew does something similar on Instagram, 90% of the time he ends up returning the cash because he can’t source the watch any cheaper than he’s selling for !

When you have parted with your cash the term over the hills and far away springs to mind. Isn’t the internet full of fake sites simply copying and pasting from real websites and it will be there forever I’m guessing as there seems to be no internet regulation to help the unsuspecting.

We have had a few of these anyone ever heard of… lately. Just don’t consider it unless they have a shop you can go to and even then only if you know what you are doing. Much better to stick to trusted experts with a solid reputation amongst watch forum types, less likely to get burnt and even more less likely to end up buying something fake or stolen.

Personally no but a lot of people do. It’s unbelievable the amount of money changing hands via Instagram accounts and there’s zero protection for the buyers handing over the cash.

Repeated phone calls just get cut off and email not answered, so far.

Is it the flawed creation of Artificial Intelligence?

    Curiouser and curiouser.

A handsome jeweller emailed them yesterday at 11.14 :

    "Good morning,

Please may I have the addresses of your Liverpool and Manchester showrooms ? I couldn’t see them on the website and might like to visit to view two of the vintage Rolex.

    Yours faithfully..."

Despite the claim of 24/7 support, it was not until 18:21 that a reply came :

    "Hello!

Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in our vintage Rolex watches. As an online watch store, we currently do not have physical showrooms in Liverpool or Manchester. However, we do offer a convenient and secure online platform where you can explore our extensive collection of vintage Rolex timepieces.

On our website, you will find high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and all the necessary information about each watch to help you make an informed decision. Our goal is to provide a seamless online shopping experience, allowing you to view the watches from the comfort of your own home.

If you have any questions or need assistance regarding the vintage Rolex watches you're interested in, our knowledgeable customer support team is available via email to help you.

We understand the value of seeing the watches in person, so to bridge that gap, we offer a hassle-free return policy. If you decide to purchase the vintage Rolex watches and they don't meet your expectations, you can return them within a specified period for a full refund.

Once again, we appreciate your interest in our collection, and we hope you find the perfect vintage Rolex timepieces that match your preferences. Should you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

    Best regards, John, Liverpool Watches

    25 июл. 2023 г., 11:15 От . . ."

What's that text in the last line, "июл" ? Is it the Russian for July ? Why Russian ?

As the website describes four physical stores as we have discussed above, handsome jeweller emailed thrice further :

"Thanks for that John, but I’m confused. Your website says you DO have showrooms in Liverpool, Manchester, Altrincham and Canary Wharf.

Do you not have any of those ?

If yours is not a bricks and mortar business, what is your company name so that I can just check your size / history etc, please? I’m not sure I’d want to make a big purchase without knowing the seller would be there to “stand behind it.”

    Thankyou."

    "John,

Where is the shop that is pictured on your website ? I mean the one that looks very much like a Wempe store that has had “Liverpool Watches” branding super-imposed.

    Thankyou."

    "John,

Did you receive my further two messages last night ?

They were reasonable questions if one is interested in buying very expensive watches from you.

    Look forward to your replies."

No further reply from LW has been received.

Further to the above, handsome jeweller has made repeated attempts to call the mobile telephone number on the website. Thus far it has always rung out unanswered before being cut off.

    Artificial Intelligence BS Botski ?

    Whatever.

    STINKS.

The free shipping offer in the UK is in dollars instead of pounds also with the terrible grammar I would think you would have to be mad to orderor from this site.
