Thread: Incoming….Platinum Daytona!

    Incoming….Platinum Daytona!

Out of the blue I’ve had a call for a platinum Daytona…last of the “older” model. Rolex must be clearing the older models ready for the newer updated model…
Luckily I have owned one of these a good few years ago, (pre owned), for a short while but am super excited to get a brand new one from the AD.
Superb watches with an amazing heft and presence.
Looking forward to posting pictures after the weekend when I pick it up!

Quite the watch, congrats. I've always seen the Platinum Daytona as the ultimate of the ultimate. Best start with some mild dumbbells before it arrives!

Saw these £100k grey during the peak so yep, relative bargain.

One of those watches which makes you think where do you go from here? What's next after something like that?

    Baguette dial

Congrats OP. I tried one on a few years ago and it has quite the presence, and heft.

Big congrats for a stunning watch! I tried one of these on in 2013 and thought it had incredible presence. Back then it was easy to get and at a discount. Slowly over the years it became harder to get from an AD and then it nigh on impossible. As Wiley said 100k plus last year from grey dealers.

Maybe, but the timekeeping wouldn’t be as good and you’d look a complete knob with it strapped to your wrist (85oz of Pt, not the watch).

Congratulations, looking forward to some photos.

    Cool

    Congratulations mate!

The new ‘23 Daytonas aren’t due to land until the end of September so what a result to get of the last, current references. Look forward to the pics once you’ve got it on the wrist.

I remember seeing both dials at T5 before 2016. Available and VAT free as well. Probably with a discount on top. Wonder what changed…

    Lovely. Congratulations

Out of curiosity when will you wear this. Asking from perspective of whether it’s a special occasion watch and also from security issues.

I spend a lot of time in Mallorca and will probably move there in the next couple of years. I am happy to wear a watch like this there daily. Sadly in the UK I very rarely get to wear a nice watch outside of the house albeit a local restaurant etc

Just avoid the areas of Jaume III during peak season ;)

Beautiful! I can still remember having one on my wrist in H&I here in Edin, I think list was c£55k. I passed as I thought it too heavy. But, unbeatable looks for sure.

The Daytona is so underrated as a chronograph on here, it’s ridiculous. And in that guise…

That is a very impressive watch. Is it much heavier ? Does it scratch easily ? Congratulations

Tried one on once and it's heavy. (Never occurred to me to buy it at the then price of £45-50,000, unfortunately!)

Just had a quick Google and it's more than 30% heavier than a DSSD which feels heavy (until you've worn if for a short while). Would have thought you need to keep the bracelet reasonably tight to stop it swinging about.
