Thanks, JB's are the perfect length for me so I'm hoping that they will fit.

    Another YT video from the same guy. Some highlights;

Accuracy is +0.5 seconds after a day

He says it's the best Seiko Diver he has owned

Size wise on the wrist it compares to a BB58 as opposed to a BB54 and he says actually it may wear a bit big on a small wrist due to the lugs and the Seiko is much slimmer

The silicon strap is far too long for him

Finishing is far superior to the Tudor, on the SJE093 there is clearly Zaratsu polishing - he compares it to a BB58 side by side and says that aside from movement and perhaps brand equity the Seiko either matches or beats the Tudor in every metric

Spoke to a Seiko rep today who was visiting an AD. Long story short no such thing as a 'January allocation', what sold out initially was the entire allocation and the only chance of getting more is if other ADs in other countries don't sell their allocations so they get redistributed elsewhere but the chances of that happening are minimal as this seems to be the hottest watch of the last year or so from a supply vs demand perspective.

I spoke to my AD who initially had an allocation of 2, Seiko UK tried to pull both due to overwhelming demand and the AD managed to retain 1 (mine thankfully) but this may also be the case with other ADs so worth checking if yours is still in play! You'll be fine if you ordered via Seiko Boutique, other ADs may be a bit of a gamble and it reeks of Seiko trying to placate some of their boutique VIPs who missed out

  5. #155
Seems they are now in the AD's as I have been offered one for delivery tomorrow.

    It's here!

This is the Seiko dive watch that I've been waiting for. Love the look and the dimensions are perfect.

Quality of the finishing is same as the SLA017, this seems like just a scaled down version of the same watch. Circular brushing and looks like zaratsu polishing on the sides? Lume looks like it might have been hand applied.

Yes the strap is a bit too long, although is it very comfortable. The metal keeper has bevelled edges so it isn't sharp and uncomfortable (like the keeper on the SLA055/57 was). I might keep it on this strap for now as I like the look, makes me feel like I'm a 60's skindiver!

I don't think it wears small at all on my 6.75 inch wrist. For me, it's the perfect Seiko diver.

    Congratulations! Looks awesome.

What AD did you buy from? I've had no word from mine yet.

P.S that would look great on a sailcloth

Thanks, I got mine from Francis & Gaye.

I think I'm going to keep mine on rubber, a Tropic really suits it.

Thanks, the stock strap should fit me quite well then although I have also got a Tropic Sport 19mm lined up.

Enjoy the watch, Seiko nailed it!!!!

As someone who has had plenty of opportunities to compare how good a watch looks on Rocket Man's wrist in real life with his modest abilities in capturing that reality photographically, let me reassure you etc etc etc

Another wrist shot from more of a distance to give a better idea of the size.

Looks great and I guess is a 'big' 38mm if that makes sense as that seems to wear like a 40mm, probably because of lug length

Thanks, yes my photographic skills are somewhat limited unfortunately. This watch looks much better in real life.

I think my quest for the ultimate Seiko diver is over at last.

Trust me, Mr Man's photography will still be withholding a degree of the truth about how well the watch is sitting on his wrist.

I'm peering at that sentence, trying to find within it a commitment to not selling the watch, and not finding one

Okay it's a little lumpy maybe but I like the artisanal, hand applied touch! It was the same on my previous SLA017 and SLA023.

    Lovely stuff.

Next time I sell a Vostok I'm definitely going to big-up the "artisanal, hand-applied" lume.

I ordered a little late from Goldsmiths before they pulled the pre-order down. Hoping I managed to snaffle one.

Have you heard anything from them. I too ordered late, they put a hold on my card but it reversed a few days later, not heard from them since. Doesn’t bother me as I’ve managed to source one elsewhere (thanks to a top TZer).

    Cheers

I called them on Friday and they said the order was in the system and was just waiting stock. I’ll give them another call today or tomorrow and see if they have an update.

Looks great to me ... I'd love one but I have too many watches already ... still have one to sell which I promised the wife when I bought the Mark XX; she hasn't mentioned it so I'm keeping my head down ...

In fairness, he'd earned a promotion after all those years on chapter rings.

I think I just snagged another one. Hopefully it gets confirmed and I’ll cancel the Goldsmiths order.

    Still loving it.

Sunburst effect is beautiful and not too dramatic (as some sunburst dials can be).

I also love the distortions caused by the domed sapphire crystal.
