    Flightmaster strap recommendations

Ok so in the true TZ tradition of not being able to make up my mind on my own…
I have had my flightmaster for a number of years, it’s a keeper but…

    I can’t find a strap I am happy with.
I have been wearing it on a nice battered grey buffalo leather rally strap but it’s not quite right, I don’t really do leather straps, I don’t like them if I am honest.

I also have a brushed strapcode mesh which is a very nice bracelet but it’s too bling, I like them in photos but not on my wrist. The lack of taper over powers an already very large distinctive watch.

I do have the original omega bracelet but it’s very stretched and needs a bit of TLC.

So what would you wear this watch on?

I am thinking about getting the OEM sorted or finding an NOS / Service strap but in the mean time what are the gangs suggestions?

First of all, lovely 910 you have there.

How about an Uncle 1162 homage?

Thanks! That could be almost perfect but they seem to only sell 20mm

I'm not sure that really matters as it has a 25mm flare and hidden lugs.

ETA - There would obviously be a bit of side to side play.

I would prefer to avoid the side to side sliding

But it is almost perfect in terms of looks (as it would be)

Tried the bracelet but personally I prefer a Toshi.

It was on one of CBs tweed straps at first but it’s the same a leather to me, just don’t get on with them, especially in warmer weather. They are just a sweat sponge and end up honking in short order. I also really dislike the feel of leather against my skin (yes I know I am very strange)
I am guessing a service bracelet is the way to go.

Got it. Have you tried the OEM mesh? not sure if it’s any less bling than the one you’ve already tried but I’ve never found it blingy

The mesh looks very similar to the brushed mesh I have. I might pop in to my local Omega boutique and have a chat to see what they might be able to do.
In the mean time I have been playing about with the strap box

The OEM is definitely my preferred option, I just have no faith it will last as it really needs a bit of TLC.

Breitling shark leather - nope don’t like it

Di Model leather pilot strap, looks good but a bit to similar to the my Tuitima NATO on the same strap.

One of CBs tweed straps it’s nice and the colour picks out the GMT hand

Green Cordura strap, looks better than I thought it would. This is rubber backed so gets me away from leather

Black Cordura - even better to my eye but the strap is a bit tatty as it was on my CSAR for years. It’s a safe option and a little boring though.

Grey rough cut buffalo rally. It’s current on this at the moment.

    Happy to listen any thoughts.

As a update Forstner do a straight end strap similar to the older ‘Mexican’ style Speedmaster bracelets
I think I might give that a go.

thread revival, what is the current rate for these flightmasters? My dad was a commercial pilot and had one. Wouldn't mind adding one at the right £

    So as an update
I think I have settled on this
The taper is a bit serious but it works on the wrist

    Forstner bullet with JP clasp.
It’s as close to the original as I could find at a reasonable price

Looking on the WatchObsession site, they only seem to do a 21/16mm Forstner BULLET bracelet (with Straight Ends). Is that what you are using? I am in a similar situation to you with my original Omega bracelet on my Speedy MK3 and I reckon a Bullet would be alright too. Just a bit concerned that I need 22mm though.

I have my 911 on an 1162, the one with the smoothest taper (there's one version that stays wide at the lug ends for two or three links before flaring in, which I really don't like)

That looks like the bracelet I have but like Sinnlover, I am a bit concerned about its security. My clasp is stamped No.12 but the bracelet taper looks the same as yours. I do like the look of the Bullet bracelet but want to make sure I get the right one!

Both great looking flightmasters by the way. Had one years ago and missing it now!

Yep that’s the bracelet but I went straight to Forstner and got a 22mm
It is a different shape to the original bracelet being narrower but it is close
I have not worn the watch since so might break it out tomorrow for the office.

I guess the lack of wear since getting the bracelet is an indication on how successful I think the match is

The forstner tapers quite a lot very early so it’s quite skinny against the watch head

I might give it a wear over the next few days to see if it grows on me

I reckon it would suit the MK3 well. Let me know if you don't get on with yours!
