I sometimes wonder why it always seems to be me who experiences strange happenings.
I once found myself filling with fuel at Watford Gap Services when The African Queen pulled up at an adjacent pump - on a trailer of course. And I was overtaken in Death Valley on the M62 (as was) by a Woolly Mammoth - again on a trailer. And The Flying Scotsman.
What prompted this diatribe? Well, the clue is in the title of the post.
Today, whilst at my local Sainsbury's filling my modern with diesel, plus a couple of gallons of E5 in plastic containers for my new Riley, a Japanese pickup pulled up at an adjacent pump; when the driver got out to use the fuel pump I couldn't help but notice that he was stark bollock naked. He entered the kiosk to pay just behind me, but I followed English protocol and studiously didn't look. As an aside, I didn't pay at the pump as I live in eternal hope that the £2.99 AA Road Atlases will reappear for sale; sadly so far they have not.
A clue may be that the tailgate of the pickup was emblazoned with the logo "@thenakedcyclist".
Anyone have any ideas about the background story?

If it is a thing, I would think there is a whole lot of chafing going on, and the saddles smell quite badly.
looks like you are in Manchester, there are literally insane people walking the streets there so no shock one of them thinks its ok to expose himself to young children who may be around

What in the name of saddle(ball)bags would you ever want to be naked for in central London, on a bike, or pretty much in any other situation (other than perhaps your sangria-filled belly in the Mediterranean sea on a summer night, or a warm comfy bed with someone else of similar undress).
I will never understand it.
Totally impractical, less than comfortable, probably downright unhygienic, and in the most part not very attractive.

Nope. Getting tangled up with the cable machine put an end to all that.
Just seen a whole bunch of them cycling down The Strand, they all seemed to be having a good time which the weather must have contributed to. Generally a nice positive reaction from those in the vicinity.

They hold an annual naked bike ride in Seattle, in the Fremont area. It's a bit of a local cult event, and thousands turn out to watch. I've seen it once, and the nightmares will never leave me. The thing that stuck with me though was that people were riding the rental bikes, which I have also never done since that day.
It's also fairly awkward when a colleague passes by waving at the crowd - there's a sight i'll never unsee.
