Stunning watch. The engraving looks period correct and right to me, rather than something added on years after.
Be interesting to see what the serious collectors think and the value. Whilst £40k as a starting bid sounds a lot to most of us, in Milsub terms it’s change in the back pocket.
Cool thing but I don’t see any real proof or provenance. Reading between the lines Id say the jacket and watch have been put together rather than having coming from the same original source.

Most ‘issued’ watches were sent in batches so if in a known range it’s likely to be as described.
