Thank you! I've been saying that for weeks. Penalty merchant. Another two last night and a fluky deflection. He's a good player but I'm sick of hearing the hype.

He reminds me of Emile Smith Rowe. Same level as well, just with a stronger mentality than ESR.

The bubble will burst when Pep moves on. Sure you will still be a good team competing, but you will have lost that world domination factor. History supports this, Liverpool after the 70s and early 80s, Arsenal after Wenger, Utd after Fergie. Even Barcelona haven’t done much in recent times.

Enjoy the good times whilst you can.

That is a ridiculous statement. its like you are suggesting that every player would have a 98% success rate taking pens, utter nonsense

there is a reason players like Palmer, Toney and Jorginho; along with historical players like Le Tissier are renowned for taking penalties as despite what you suggest its a very specialist skill.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he's the new messiah, and due to my club I hate Chelsea with a passion; but a little credit is due for what he has achieved this season; even if it is begrudging

it doesn't have to be black or white; most of it is a shade of grey

This drop-off will inevitably happen when Pep leaves as there isn't anyone else at his level. City fans know this and I'm sure are drinking in all the success while he's there. I'm sure they'd all be happy to drop back to the levels they were at before Pep as that wasn't too shabby. It'll be interesting to see who their next coach will be and equally where Pep goes next. Surely it can only be Serie A?

Spain v Germany with Pep and Klopp in charge would be interesting.

What are you on about ? I’ve said he’s a good player.

Scoring 12 pens this season in all competitions isn’t an achievement.

76% of pens are scored in penalty shoot outs which equates to 50% of the outfield players in a highly pressurised knockout situation.

A standard free kick in a league game is virtually a gimme.

    Oh , absolutely!
FWIW, I think City have long planned for Pep leaving . We are the best run club in the world at the minute and it will continue after the greatest manager ever has left .
But, if the wheels do fall off , unlike some of the history fans, I won’t be seeing my backside if we don’t win trophies every season .
The good times are absolutely being enjoyed .

It would although I don't think Pep is suited to international management as he wouldn't have the players together long enough to embed his style, I think he needs them every day. Just my opinion.

A bit of chatter around that he'll be off to Villa in the summer.

Probably be a good move for him. He'd be a starter I'd have thought

First PL win of 2024. Another goalkeeping howler gave us a goal which wasn’t really deserved. This dreary game was heading for 0-0 draw with both teams scared to have a go.

Now 4 points above the drop, which will probably be taken off us next week.

Well, Villa look to have opened the door for us with that draw. We have three tough games in our run-in, though, and we're masters of not stepping up when it counts (so no assumptions on my part that we'll do the business).

I can’t believe how unfortunate Arsenal are to receive all those head injuries just as the opposition are in dangerous positions.

Meanwhile it's amazing to see how well Liverpool play despite so many of their players being asthmatic and taking asthma medication to boost oxygen intake.

Nobody can, the source isn't exactly stellar now is it, and that's before you read anything from medical professionals who say it offers no performance improvement.

If I was following a pep team I certainly wouldn't shout too much about suspected doping be it PEDs or otherwise

I thought the sport of choice for asthma sufferers was professional cycling?

Over to Liverpool now. Who will be the 1st of the challengers to crack? Today was supposed to be one of the matches Arsenal would drop points (Brighton only lost once at home all season) but we pumped them silly, Old Trafford is supposed to be one of the places Liverpool will drop points.

Looking at Arsenal's remaining games I only really see Spurs and United away as games with jeopardy (particularly Spurs). Of course it rarely works out like that!

I actually think Liverpool will pump united tomorrow, it's the games you don't expect it, the only team I can see winning all their games is city, Liverpool and arsenal will drop points just depends how many.

    I'm not sure about City.

Arsenal are the best of the 3 sides defensively and have been able to coast through games as a result. I feel Liverpool are having to fight hard to win games and those exertions may become too much and City aren't all that at the back. Rodri is magnificent, but they are going to concede goals in most matches.

Arsenal seem to have the toughest fixtures on paper but have more matches at home vs City and Liverpool.

I’m really enjoying this three horse race. I think all three will win every remaining game. Anyone that posts a loss is out of the race.

Poor game at Fulham today. Fulham had a few great chances in the first half and I couldn’t believe we went it 0-0 at half time. We were the better team in the second half but overall it wasn’t a great game.

I can’t see beyond Liverpool myself. City won’t win the title and, as all my in laws are Gooners, I hope it’ll be Arsenal if not City but I just don’t see it.

Didn’t see much of KdB at Chelsea tbh. Swindon away in the League Cup was not a good game for him. But he has turned into a fantastic player

The earlier statement was the best attacking midfielder ever in the Premier League. I don’t see anyone matching SFL in that role. Goals, Assists, whatever stat you look at - he’s right at the top

Salahs scored more and assisted more in 200 games less.

Still think it's Matt Le Tissier. Barcelona used to watch videos of him playing in their training sessions and Xavi/Iniesta idolised him. Criminally underused by England - imagine what he'd have been able to do at a bigger club than Southampton.

Salah is a forward, so ineligible for a discussion on best PL attacking midfielder. Pretty obvious I'd have thought ...

Whilst he is clearly the best attacking midfielder playing today, for best ever you need to include the following

    Scholes
    Lampard
    Toure
    Silva
    Gerrard

Out of that lot, even as a united fan I would pick toure, he was a beast and hated him as he rampaged through the middle

What are you on about ?

Salah is an attacking midfielder, he plays on the wing. He’s a winger.

He’s occasionally a forward when he’s filled in as a 9 with injuries.

Some great suggestions. Must be some Arsenal players to consider. Sid Cowens? Bryan Robson, Gazza, Hoddle, Ian Bishop, Trevor Morley, Platt? Not sure they were all in the Prem era though.

If we win the league I think he’s 100% gone. Will work for both parties as we will get a massive fee for someone that is traditionally at the tail end of their career.

He’s been magnificent for Liverpool and is a premier league great.

His scoring and assist record is absolutely insane.

150m for him is good business as we know players can fall to bits any time over 32.
