Yes, the one that Liverpool wanted. U21 only thus far, but it appears that the sky's the limit. Very fast indeed, too.

Liverpool have been linked with about 100 players this summer, I'd assume if they wanted him they'd has signed him at the money being talked about.

Hopefully he is as good as you expect him to be.

He's certainly highly rated, so I hope so. Got to be infinitely better than what we have, anyway. Very happy with the Ashley Phillips signing too.

Will be interesting to see if Kane plays against Shakhtar today. If he does one must assume there is no transfer to Bayern agreed as surely the Germans wouldn't allow him to play. If he doesn't play then surely he's off.

Can't see any way that he won't be playing, Ryan. I do think he'll be off, though.

I’ll bet you a pound (or Euro ) a season since , let’s say 1950 , that City’s average attendance is better than your beloved Liverpool ? All for the Fundraiser btw .
    What do you think ?
Feel free to Google before you commit . I’m
Facts...useful, sometimes. Average fullness of stadium.

    Liverpool 99.3%.
    City 98.8%.
    Arsenal 98.5%.
    United 97.4%.
    Chelsea 90.1%.
    Spurs 89.9%.

We go to watch City and it is very tricky to get tickets. Best we could manage this season was Brighton in October. The rest are sold. Empty though, righto.

Whatever happened the wing back that was signed last year (from Charlton) I think, I think he was a teenager but very highly rated.

If you mean Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, Conte refused to play him, calling him a "club signing". He's in the squad but will have a fight for a starting place, with Emerson Royal and Pedro Porro ahead of him at present.

Arsenal need to win today. I think City view Liverpool as currently a bigger rival than Arsenal, despite logic - ie Arsenal having the better players than Liverpool and much of that is the fact is that City always beat Arsenal whereas Liverpool regularly land punches on City. So if Arsenal win today I don't think it matters too much to City but if City win it will mean a lot to Arsenal.

He’d get in Peps combined 11 and that’s all that counts .
There was an interview with Bernardo recently and he said that John was the English footballer he wished was Portuguese!

And will matter a lot to you too clearly, in trying to make you really believe the things you write in Arsenal being a bigger rival than Liverpool?

I’d take odegaard for Liverpool, possibly rice and that’s it.

Still worry about our defence. I think Kane will be staying, well hope probably . Didn't look like a player wanting out or leaving Spurs today.

Mickey Van de Ven was in the crowd so only a medical away from completing his move. I actually thought Kane looked a bit subdued after his goals today… not so sure, tbh.

Udogie looks like a brilliant signing at LB.

Havertz has slotted in perfectly to the Jesus role of missing good chances.

Even game so far but Arsenal with the more clear cut chances. Kovacic has settled in really well I thought.

  28. #978
Decent first half, havertz showing again how he is not worth any money!

Crazy how much money we have spent and how far our 11 is behind city’s

Liking that 30 second injury rule. Arsenal gonna struggle with that if the players go down as easily as they did last season to disrupt a game.

On today's evidence I don't think our team is behind City's? The best 3 players on the pitch have all been Arsenal players (Timber, Saliba, Odegaard). Although hard to tell as it is essentially still a pre season game.

Liverpool beat city pretty well last year in the Charity Shield

I wouldn't read too much into it either way.

Timber looks really good, if we had Harland I would agree with you Ryan, we don’t have a goal scorer

Saka must be the most overrated player in world football. Another nothing performance.

Good goal by Palmer - he’s having a really good 2023 so far and looks a talent, but I wonder if he might benefit from a year or 2 in the Bundesliga or elsewhere to get minutes. Doesn’t look on the cards though.

I’d say Rice has to be the most overrated player personally. £100 million for that???

Saka’s a good player, Rice is ordinary.

Let’s be fair you’re surely not judging him off that single game. I’m inclined to agree but time will tell.

If you are on about Rice, then no I do not judge him on that performance. I say it over the last few seasons. He’s bang average.

Even I'm a bit embarrassed with seeing Arteta celebrating in front of the Charity Shield with his kids. Let's not forget we are playing in this game only because Man Utd lost to City in the FA Cup Final. But an important win for Arsenal so they know they can compete with City even though I suspect City will get a lot better but then so again will we - we didn't have much cutting edge I thought.

You won’t win the league without a top goal scorer, Kai certainly isn’t one and Jesus is always injured, Man City only get rid of players who don’t make their team stronger.

I don’t think either team played particularly well. I do think, though, that Maddison was a far, far better signing than Rice at 40% of the cost.

    As for Arteta…
