Spot on. Absolutely laughable and totally consistent behaviour. They’re always right, never wrong, never to blame. Their fan behaviour caused Heysel. Their fans were smashing the city up, robbing shops and beating people up all day. They were stealing tickets. They charged the Juve fans. They fought with police. They had a flag in that stadium mocking the Munich disaster.

Istanbul 2006, stealing tickets from their own fans. I know people who witnessed that. And please don’t expect anyone to believe they didn’t have any responsibility at Hillsborough. Too many fans without tickets trying to get in was a factor contributing to the crush. Common thread anyone?

As I've posted here before, I was at the FA Cup semi at Hillsborough in 1988. I vividly remember a number of fans in the terrace behind the end allocated to Liverpool being pulled up from the lower to upper terrace just ahead of the kick off. I was near the halfway line so impossible to tell why that was happening, but it's the only time I've seen that in 50+ years of going to games and I've often wondered if any lessons could and should have been learnt from that which would have helped the following year. I also recall thinking that stadium was a fire hazard, fortunately nothing has come of that particular concern yet....

Re Hillsborough, it really could have been any of us back then. There was a West Ham - Villa game in 1989 where it was absolute carbage in the away end, loads of Villa fans ended up stood on the pitch while the game carried on, it was madness.

A few more in and your own folks say that wasn’t the case. Most of that RAWK thread is either people saying the flag was out of order or people trying to justify it. Accept that all fan bases, including my own team has idiots. What causes other fans a problem is the constant justification or denial of incidents involving LFC supporters, or some beatification of the club as some kind of socialist moral standard. A little humility and acknowledgement from some of the reds would go far.

Anyway, just watching my team batter Luton but managed to come in at half time 1-0 down. Im still traumatised by the memory of David Pleat dancing across the pitch at Main Road after they relegated us with a last minute goal in the early 80s. One of our plant pot fans ran on and hoofed him up the backside.

We will do well to stay with that majestic team who are European royalty, with the bestest manager there has ever been….. ever, where ‘this means more’ and who were the champions of furlough, trendsetters of the £70 tickets, regularly come first in smashing up buses, excel at injuring 15 year old girls by dropping cups full of coins on fans heads and who regularly win the premier league…. Well if you count every 30+ years as regular. It’s a good job I live in Liverpool and have many match going red mates, otherwise I would have the impression that most are deluded, cultish (that was cultish), strange folk. Most in real life are quite balanced and knowledgable….. honest!
