It was unbelievable round the bends and felt like it was going 100mph everywhere.

The door hinge panels rotted through but I got new ones made and fitted by a local metalworks for £20.

Engine mounts went but got them replaced and fitted for £20.

I was on my mum's insurance so no idea what it cost but I know she couldn't have paid loads for it.

My next car was a Citroen AX and the gearbox imploded 4 weeks after I bought it from a mate's mum. I'm sure she knew it was on the way out, but I couldn't prove anything and it was my mate. It was the lack of surprise or bother when I mentioned it to her. Cow.

All great fun in hindsight and important lessons learned.
