1968 Automotive catalogue. Mail order Heuers...

I was looking though an old MG Mitten from Pasadena catalogue for after market sidescreens of a TR. (Long other story) when I noticed this:

    Those prices...

MG Mitten was a sort of Halfords in the day. They had all sorts of aftermarket goodies for popular import cars in the US. From Abarths to Volvo.

I love those old ads. I have a couple of big folders of old original ones.

    Carrera chrono for $69.50?
    Cheers,

Looking at that Reverse Panda dialed Heuer watch at the bottom of the page - looks fabulous! (IMHO). Don't seem to have made much progress in watch styling over the last 55 years, have we!

Lookswise it is really difficult to progress something that was already perfect!

According to Google $120 in 1968 is equivalent to $1000 today.

    A new one today £5600....

    Yep.

When you look at old ads and taking into account inflation etc the new prices of most stuff nowadays is pretty outrageous compared to the past.
    Cheers,
