    Broke my leg

    Absolutely s%cks!
Had to have surgery they put in a plate and screws to hold it together down by the ankle. I am trying to keep busy but limited to TV, tablet and phone. Spend way to much time looking at watches this could be the most expensive lesson ever!

That is rubbish, I broke my tibula playing rugby a few years ago. recovery was hardwork and still have issues with it now although that is due to the ligament damage sustained in same injury. Hopefully your recovery goes smoothy!

I was signed off work for 6 weeks and at the start was unbelievably bored. By the end my time was filled with a plethora of useless youtube channels and I was disappointed to be be going back to work. haha

Sorry to hear this, I broke tib and fib and also compound fracture where the foot had rotated 60 degrees. Oh and knackered my knee as well.

You should get physio as soon as you possibly can, do not delay it!! Also, wear compression socks to help reduce swelling, were a bloody godsend for me.

Other than that, physio, physio, physio. Hoping you haven't got any screws that are holding it all the way through. Had to have mine removed 14 months after the break as I had no mobility in my ankle at all. It's the 2 running left to right in the picture below.

    Speedy recovery

Ouch, hope you recover as quickly as possible. Need gory details about how you did it, though.

Not if you don't have decent medical insurance, I'd guess.

I broke it on the stairs. My daughters dog wanted to come to the basement and I went up and opened the door for her. When I moved out of the way, she likes to barrel down the stairs, I swung to the left and voila daughters shoe was there. Well it was like ice on a pond and off I went. Unfortunately my right foot felt like it was attached to the stair and would not go.

I was wearing my work boots, I wear 8" ones so it keeps my ankle from twisting on jobsites, so I don't know if it helped or hurt. The hospital told my wife to pull the boot off she did 3 laces and tried to pull it off ... if you have never heard a grown man scream and cry at once your lucky. Nurse had to come in to unlace it fully to get if off.

Don't know who I hate more daughter, daughter's dog or evil wife who probably knew the pain I'd be in trying to pry the boot off my swollen ankle.

Physio is definitely your friend. I broke my 20 plus years ago. Bad break had surgery and was told I would probably limp for the rest of my life. There was no way that was happening so I rotated and extended my ankle for hours everyday. After 15 weeks I was walking normally, even the physio was impressed. Persistence pays off. Ps I broke it dropping in on a half pipe on a skateboard… which I never tried before, stupid is an understatement.

Trust me some of the stories you guys tell about breaking your legs sounds a whole lot worse than my break. Either way I wish this was in the past like yours.

It well get better over time John.

    A little story....

Back in the day my youngest went skiing in Canada and broke his leg.

When he came home, Deana our English bull terrier had meanwhile also broken her leg leaping up in the air as they do. Deana had bolts in her leg and we had to take her to the vet once a week for tightening.

I used to have a picture of them both together with their broken limbs.

They both got over it fine with ne'er a problem.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
