Apple Devices Running Hot Using TZ on Tapatalk

I have three Apple devices, a phone and two different size iPads.

When I use Tapatalk and type a reply to a comment on a TZ thread, the phone gets hot. Then it rapidly slows down, with the characters on the display taking significant time to catch up with the keyboard. Then it sometimes crashes, or operates so slowly I give up. This is the same across three Apple devices so I know it must be software rather than hardware issue.

I have no problems on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A which I am typing this message from.

Anyone else have the same problem? Seems weird that I have the same issue across all three of my Apple devices.

I gave up using tapatalk some time ago due to the same heat issue on iPhone. Just view in the browser now, not looked back.

Very weird, I thought it was April Fools for a moment!

Have you tried using Tapatalk with anything else? It must be a Tapatalk issue rather than TZ?

    Interesting discovery!

I only use Tapatalk for uploading photos - I don't follow forums on the phone or ipad

Looks like it has been an issue for some time

That is where I am heading, except when using my Android device as it works well on that.

I will have to get used to the browser format on my phone again.

Thanks. Looks like this is a widespread Tapatalk issue with Apple devices, given the link you have found and experience of others.

I’ve got an iPhone 14 Pro and a 4th gen iPad Pro, both of ios 16.4.1(a), without the issue.

Tapatalk was running slow last weekend but it revolved itself in a day or so.

Same problem for me. I had this a few months ago, then it seemed to be fixed with an app update. Stupidly I kept updating to every new version and they’ve broken it again.

Once in a blue moon my Tapatalk gets terrible (never noticed the heat before) and I uninstall, restart, reinstall, and it's fine for ages again. Due to do it again now but can't be bothered yet.

I’ve had a phone replaced by Apple after complaining of the phone becoming too hot to hold.

Apple tech support ( I think from Ireland) remotely logged onto the phone and were able to see which apps had consumed the battery and they were able to see Tapatalk was a battery intensive and probable cause. They swapped the phone to an 11+ and I no longer have the issue.

I had Apple check mine like this, but they told me it was a software issue. I believe they will only rectify if it is because of a hardware issue.

Yep. Noticed that Tapatalk was really laggy and slow on my iPhone 11. I only use it when I want to upload pictures to this site now as the TZ app is awful for uploading pictures.

Why this forum won’t allow you to load direct from your phone like so many other forums without using a hosting site?

I find Tapatalk made my iPhone get very warm and also dramatically reduced the battery level so now use the TZ app again.

I’ll only use taps to upload photos if needed.
