I’ve more or less completely moved to Mastodon.
I have user IDs on Mastodon, WT Social, Post News, Counter Social and now also Bluesky. Must say that BS is the first one that has vibes that resemble Twitter.Originally Posted by Phil Lee

I used Twitter back in 2012 when I relocated my business to Norfolk, and it was successful (50% of my first year clients came through Twitter).
But, like pretty much all social media, it became a vile place to be.
So I closed all of my social media accounts and have never touched anything like it again (except here and two other forums).
I won't use anything now, not even WhatsApp. The AUP for social media sites is appallingly terrible.
I use Twitter purely as a consumer (there are a select few accounts that I choose to follow) but never as a producer (I do not tweet).
The problem with moving to any alternative platform is that it needs to reach critical mass, and the people that I want to follow need to move to it, before there's any point in me adopting it.
Mind you, since Elon removed access to the Twitter API on Android, and none of my preferred apps (Plume, Albatross, Fritter) work any more, I've pretty well stopped accessing it.
I use Bluesky more than Twitter now. It’s a different “vibe” than Twitter; seems more suited to the younger generation, lots of tech folk, artist etc. it’s interesting..
I wouldn't mind an invite if someone can help me out.
Same, would love an invitation if anyone has one to offer!

Done the rounds as well - no real feel for what they are trying to do.
Twitter is done thanks to the 'genius', currently sat in a queue for Bluesky - any tips or help to progress this greatly received.

It does seem there is a trend in trying to find the next Twitter. I have Mastodon but I imagine Bluesky has the most chance simply because Dorsey is involved. I’m down on list for Bluesky too but if there is a TZ invite going then … :-)

I think normal users will get one invite every two weeks. Get in line, ETA is Christmas 2025.

Bit like the Covid R value once a few have it the invites will spread quite quickly. Particularly if you focus on a group. Bit like how Gmail started
I'm on the waiting list as well. I have a Mastodon account and it's fine, but as already suggested, none of them are compelling until the people you want to follow or engage with arrive.
If anybody on TZ can invite me, I'll gladly 'pay it forward' and ensure any invites I get go to TZ members.

If anyone listens to the TWIT podcast last weeks episode had a big discussion on Bluesky.
Sounds like a interesting place to be whilst its invite only - but they also need to do a lot of work around safety/moderation/verification etc.

I’d appreciate it if someone could enlighten me as to wtf is the point of limiting access to a site that would benefit immensely if everyone decided to join up?
The infrastructure, funding and processes are probably not in place to support large numbers. Easier to grow slowly and attract additional funding rounds as you prove out the demand and systems.
